Zack Snyder is now teasing Superman's true resurrection in a new image from the Justice League Snyder Cut. Henry Cavill's Superman is responsible for beginning Snyder's plans at DC and what is now known as the DC Extended Universe at large. After just one solo film, though, audiences were shocked to see Superman die at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But, Snyder ended the film with a tease that Superman would return in Justice League.

Throughout the tumultuous production of Justice League, Superman's role in the film became one of the biggest secrets. He was almost completely absent from the marketing before and after Snyder left the film. In the end, though, the most talked about aspect of Superman in Justice League wasn't how he returned or what he did, but instead what he looked like thanks to a CGI upper lip to remove Cavill's Mission: Impossible - Fallout mustache. The prominence of the CGI lip has since been used to clearly point out how Superman's role in Justice League changed.

Despite the obvious changes made, Snyder has not revealed too many details about his original plans for the Man of Steel in Justice League. With the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement building prior to the two-year anniversary of the film's theatrical release, Snyder has now shared a photo on Vero featuring his Superman from the Snyder Cut. The photo itself is from Superman's death in Batman v Superman, but Snyder teases that his plan to bring the Kryptonian back was very different, as evidenced by the caption: "He has yet to rise."

Justice League Snyder Cut Superman Has Yet To Rise

With this image, Snyder has confirmed what many had long suspected: Superman's resurrection was very different in the Snyder Cut. In the theatrical cut, Superman is brought back after the team dig him out of his grave, put his body in the Genesis Chamber, and have Flash strike a Mother Box with lightning the second it touches the water. This leads to the team fighting Superman in Heroes Park and losing the Mother Box to Steppenwolf. But, it has become clear this sequence is not what Snyder had in mind.

As for this photo though, it is worth pointing out that this is an unfinished scene without completed VFX. This isn't believed to be an early photo from Batman v Superman either, which could indicate that Snyder was planning to revisit Superman's death in Justice League. He did something similar with BvS by revisiting the Battle of Metropolis through Bruce Wayne's eyes. It's possible that Justice League could've done the same and shed more light on Superman's death and eventual resurrection in the process.

While there's still plenty we don't know about this latest tease, Snyder continues to reveal intriguing new looks at his version of Justice League for the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign. With all of the teases he and cast members have released recently, there's no telling what other surprises Snyder could share in the next few days.
