Warning! Spoilers for Justice League #60 below!

A brand-new villain to the DC Universe is about to pull off an attack that's remarkably similar to the Steppenwolf's arrival in Themiscyra in Zack Snyder's Justice League. In a new preview for Justice League #60, a horned villain named Brutus will arrive in the Amazonian paradise, armed with battle axes - which is almost identical to Steppenwolf's attack in the live-action film.

One of the most badass moments in Zack Snyder's Justice League is Steppenwolf's attack on Themiscyra, as Darkseid's warrior is seeking out a Mother Box that's under protection by the Amazons. After the Mother Box is awoken, Steppenwolf attacks the fortress it's being guarded in, leading to the Amazon's leveling the building in an effort to stop him as they try to get the item away from him. However, Steppenwolf isn't so easily defeated, as he chases down the Amazons with the Mother Box and brutally murders those in stand in his way, ultimately accomplishing his goal of retrieving the box. It seems like Steppenwolf isn't the only horned, axe-wielding villain to go after the Amazons.

Brutus made quite the arrival on Earth, as he took on Black Adam in Khandaq in Justice League #59. The demonic-looking villain only retreated when the full might of the Justice League attacks him, although he made a statement by repelling Superman from following him through his portal. In previews for Justice League #60 by Brian Michael Bendis, David Marquez, and Tamra Bonvillain, the Justice League assembles due to the threat of Brutus. Hippolyta, who's set to join the Justice League, arrives after seemingly recounting Brutus' attack on Themiscyra.

Much like Steppenwolf using a Boom Tube to arrive on Themiscyra, Brutus makes a grand entrance via a portal. He crashes down to the ground and confronts the Amazons. He points one of his giant axes at them as the Amazon warriors charge him. Brutus smiles as the fight is about to begin.

Brutus doesn't seem to be afraid of anything, as his grin as he's being attacked shows he lives for the battles. Given his power level, it's possible he will have a similarly deadly fight on Themiscyra as Steppenwolf did in Zack Snyder's Justice League - at least it's going to be significant enough for Hippolyta to join up with the newly formed Justice League. Brutus, like Steppenwolf before him, isn't afraid to get his hands bloody to accomplish his goals, although what exactly he's trying to do and where he is from has yet to be revealed. Justice League #60 is in stores on April 20, 2021.
