Zack Snyder's Justice League fixed one of the major issues that hampered the 2011 Green Lantern film. The Justice League Snyder Cut was finally released in 2021 after an extended push by fans in the aftermath of the 2017 theatrical version's failure. Though Snyder originally intended to include Green Lantern (Wayne T. Carr) in the film's final scene, Warner Bros. requested for John Stewart to be removed from the film, with Snyder replacing him with Martian Manhunter (Harry Lennix).

Despite this, the Green Lantern Corps still had a presence in the film's history lesson with the brief cameo by Yalan Gur before he is killed by Darkseid (Ray Porter). The one-year anniversary of the Snyder Cut's release also saw Carr drop a completely rendered image of his deleted John Stewart appearance on social media, along with the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse hashtag. The design of both Yalan Gur and John Stewart's suits also greatly improved upon the criticized Green Lantern suit donned by Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan in the failed Green Lantern film.

Reynolds wore a motion capture suit as Hal Jordan, with his Green Lantern suit in the film, and that of other Lanterns like Sinestro (Mark Strong) created entirely through CGI. Unfortunately, the effect was heavily criticized for looking cartoonish and unconvincing. Reynolds himself even took a shot at it years later in 2016's Deadpool with his "Please don't make the super-suit green or animated!" line. Conversely, despite employing a similar CGI methodology for Zack Snyder's Justice League, both Yanan Gur and John Stewart's suits are wholly convincing.

Yalan Gur himself is an entirely CGI-rendered character, yet his appearance in the history lesson (with his death occurring by the hands of Ciarán Hinds' Steppenwolf rather than Darkseid in the theatrical cut) shows none of the issues that overshadowed Reynolds' Lantern suit. Despite the removal of Carr's John Stewart, his image might even be the more impressive of the two. Carr looks as if he's actually wearing a physical suit in the image in question, and the circumstances of its filming add to its great design.

Carr's Green Lantern scene was part of a handful of additional scenes Snyder filmed for the movie in late 2020 and was shot in front of a green screen in Snyder's own driveway. With that and the obstacles presented by the COVID-19 pandemic right as film productions were starting back up, getting anything filmed at the time was a hard enough endeavor. That Snyder accomplished this with such minimalism only adds to how well the image of Carr as Green Lantern turned out.

Additionally, both Yalan Gur and John Stewart's Lantern suits in Snyder's vastly different Justice League movie have the added effect of a hologram Lantern emblem hovering over the one on the center of their chests. Reinforcing their suits as light constructs of their Power Rings made entirely of energy, the two Lanterns of Snyder's film completely outdo the effects of the original Green Lantern film. As it is, despite their respective brevity and removal from Zack Snyder's Justice League Yalan Gur and Carr's John Stewart stand as the best live-action Green Lanterns to date with their very well-designed CGI suits.
