A fan-created video chronicles all of DCEU's biggest moments, leading to Zack Snyder's Justice League. Next year, the filmmaker will release his completed vision for the movie after its 2017 theatrical version deviated from his original plans.
Kicking off Warner Bros. and DC Films' superhero franchise in 2013 via Man of Steel, Snyder was tasked to lay the foundations for the DCEU with a planned culmination via the three-part Justice League movies. Things didn't go according to plan, with a negative public reception from critics and audiences, a reaction the studio didn't want or expect. This resulted in various last-minute story changes that were more prominently executed when Snyder had to move away from the 2017 film due to a personal tragedy, paving the way for Joss Whedon to come in and finish the project. However, it was immediately apparent that whatever ended up on the big screen wasn't what Snyder intended for Justice League.
Now that the filmmaker is allowed to finish the DCEU movie he intended (in the form of a multi-part series), his fans are nothing but excited for its release. Zack Snyder's Justice League is set to roll out sometime next year, reformatted as a four-part miniseries on HBO Max. The video is a mix of footage from Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League — primarily the bits from the released official trailer at DC FanDome. It's not surprising that at the heart of the DCEU's overall narrative thus far, at least with the films spearheaded by Snyder, is Superman, who's the inaugural hero of the franchise. Admittedly, not everyone is a fan of this darker and more troubled version of the character as it's a departure from his typical optimistic image. This take has resulted in numerous debates over whether or not Snyder deviated too much from the comic book source material. Still, some support this darker interpretation of an iconic DC hero.
At this point, no one knows whether or not Snyder's upcoming version of Justice League will be objectively better than its theatrical cut. Considering that a lot of his planned narrative that was cut from the 2017 movie was set up by previous DCEU installment, the public is optimistic about it. This will effectively make it more cohesive than what Whedon came up with, and if that's the only thing it does better, then fans will arguably be happy enough for it.
