The Justice League Snyder Cut trailer with new music seemingly makes more tonal sense than the original. Justice League recently celebrated its three year anniversary, but the celebrations were more due to the continued focus on the upcoming and long-awaited Zack Snyder’s Justice League. After years of fans campaigning for Snyder’s vision to be released, the Snyder Cut will release on HBO Max as a four-part miniseries in 2021. In the trailers for Snyder’s Justice League, fans have already seen clear differences to his version when compared to the original, such as flashes of Superman’s black suit and Darkseid’s presence. However, the trailer also has a significant difference in the form of its song “Hallelujah,” replacing Gary Clark Jr.’s “Come Together” from the 2017 trailer.

Although the DC FanDome trailer of Snyder’s Justice League was taken down due to a music rights issue - earlier this month, the most recent trailer was released with the “Hallelujah” song still intact. According to Snyder, he had the song picked out “two years ago,” stating it had “significance beyond just the movie.” The song has a lot of symbolism for Snyder and his fans, as it signifies a sense of celebration that the film will finally see the light of day, but the lyrics also highlight the struggles the director faced on this journey. However, thanks to a new video edit, which shows Snyder’s Justice League trailer with the previously used “Come Together” track, it looks as if the previous song may have better suited the tone of the latest version.

The Justice League Snyder Cut Come Together Trailer, which was uploaded on Jpao TV’s YouTube channel, is a fascinating look at taking an element that’s synonymous with the theatrical cut of Justice League and combining it with Snyder’s version. Interestingly, it works very well. The high intensity beats that open “Come Together” really suit the powerful opening visuals of Darkseid striking his weapon and revisiting Superman’s death. The loud guitar tune heightens the power of those visuals and the destruction. In addition to that, Snyder’s trailer truly focuses on the importance of the team uniting, and the title of Clark Jr.’s song is “Come Together,” and the clever editing of the song towards the end perfectly times it so the lyrics “Come together. Right now. Over me” accompany the final visual of the Justice League standing united.

Undoubtedly, there are aspects of this trailer that work really well, especially in regards to the tone of Snyder’s Justice League. Although, “Hallelujah” does suit some of the emotional visuals, such as Cyborg’s father dying a little better than Clark Jr.’s faster-paced song. It’s still hard to deny the effectiveness of the 2017 song, especially with how well the song has been edited to match the visuals of Snyder’s version of the film. However, it’s possible fans who were part of the early stages of the campaign supporting the Snyder Cut wouldn’t support the idea of mixing the theatrical version with Snyder’s.

Music has also been an interesting part of the film’s story, as Junkie XL was originally set to score Justice League before being replaced by Danny Elfman for the theatrical release. Junkie XL’s score will be heard when the new Justice League hits HBO Max, and fans will also see the return of Jared Leto as Joker. Snyder’s Justice League is gearing up to be quite the event in 2021, with many fans waiting with bated breath. But this new version of the Justice League Snyder Cut trailer has shown the potential benefits of using a part of the 2017 version.
