Marketing for Zack Snyder's Justice League continues with the release of a new trailer focused on Jason Momoa's Aquaman. The much-clamored for version of the Warner Bros. and DC ensemble film is releasing on HBO Max as a four-hour offering this month, more than three years since its theatrical version was rolled out. Unlike the cinematic cut, however, Snyder has full creative control over this new project, not only restoring his original vision for its narrative but also adding more story into it with the addition of Jared Leto's Joker.

After taking more than a year hiatus following the controversial Justice League theatrical cut, the DCEU returned with the origin story for Arthur Curry in James Wan's Aquaman. The film was mostly removed from the bigger universe it belonged to, partly because it mostly takes place under the sea. Back then, it worked for the best given the divisive response to the Joss Whedon-assembled version of Justice League, but had Snyder's original vision been followed, there would've been more lead up towards the solo movie. With the Snyder Cut now releasing, fans will finally get the chance to see how that lead-up would've worked.

With the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League slowly inching near, Snyder has released a brand new trailer centered on Aquaman. This new clip follows his previous released teasers for Batman and Superman. Watch it below:

The trailer opens with the original introduction of Arthur Curry in Justice League just after his first encounter with Bruce Wayne, who was already assembling the Justice League in preparation for the arrival of Steppenwolf. The bit was prominently-used in the marketing for the movie's theatrical version, but for some reason, it was reshot. The video also uses footage from Aquaman, including Arthur's reclamation for the Trident of Neptune, which Vulko urges him to claim in the narration. In Justice League, however, he's used a different pike, Jason Momoa called it "a quindent" which was loaned from Mera.

Based on reports from the trades, Momoa didn't return for the new Justice League reshoots, which means that everything that's new to his character in the HBO Max project would've been previously shot during the movie's principal photography. That said, Amber Heard was among those who filmed additional scenes; it's uncertain what they're for, but chances are that they would help the Snyder Cut to have a better narrative lead up to Aquaman. It's worth noting that despite all this, Zack Snyder's Justice League isn't officially canon in the DCEU, with the events of the theatrical version still deemed official. Both could co-exist, however, thanks to DC's moves to build their own cinematic multiverse.
