What do the reported screenings of the Justice League Snyder Cut mean for the possibility of the movie being released? Two and a half years since the movie's theatrical debut, Justice League continues to ominously loom over both DC and Warner Bros., and with the impending launch of the HBO Max streaming platform, countless fans are hopeful for Snyder's unreleased cut of the movie to find a home there. While no such plans have been announced, the buzz around the Snyder Cut is undeniable, especially after skyrocketing to mainstream attention on the movie's two-year anniversary last November.

Arriving in theaters as a massively retooled hybrid of Zack Snyder's footage from principal photography and Joss Whedon's reshoots, Justice League's theatrical failure was swiftly followed by calls for the release of Snyder's original cut of the movie. These calls have steadily grown more and more widespread, with Ben Affleck giving it his support in addition to many other cast and crew members, along with Snyder's own sly teases of his movie on social media.

New rumors indicate that Snyder has screened his film for studio executives earlier this year, becoming the latest powder keg for the fans clamoring for its release. What really illuminates the latest rumors is the number of other people who have either confirmed to have seen the Snyder Cut or teased that they have. In that respect, the most significant player by far is Jason Momoa, who has repeatedly confirmed to have seen the Snyder Cut, which he described as "ssssiiicccckkkkkk" in an Instagram post.

Additionally, the movie's stunt coordinator Eunice Huthart also verified that multiple other individuals have seen the film in an interview with Screen Rant. Aside from these confirmations of those who have seen it, HBO's Watchmen creator Damon Lindelof and Dave Bautista of Snyder's upcoming zombie movie Army of the Dead both offered hints that they too have seen the Snyder Cut during the tsunami of support seen on the movie's two-year anniversary.

At the bare minimum, all of this offers confirmation that Snyder has shown his movie to multiple people and is apparently continuing to do so. It's also crystal clear by now that Snyder wants it to be released to the public, as well. This is where HBO Max enters the equation, with the new streaming platform standing as an ideal mechanism for the Snyder Cut to be put out to the world.

While the new rumors of Snyder screening his Justice League cut for studio executives don't confirm any release plans, they do show that the traction in that direction looks to be increasing. This is especially true with the production shutdowns, release date shuffles, and dearth of new content Hollywood has had to endure due to the coronavirus pandemic. In the midst of that, the Justice League Snyder Cut (complete with some added filming Snyder has teased) could well represent an unexpected opportunity with the increasingly huge demand for it and the blockade the coronavirus has made on new content being produced. Only time will tell if it's chance that the powers that be will elect to take.
