Reshoots on Zack Snyder's Justice League are currently underway with Ben Affleck and Ray Fisher. As one of the initial creators of the DCEU, fans were quite excited to see what director Zack Snyder would do with the first ever live-action Justice League film. However, Snyder ended up departing the project due to a family tragedy, and Joss Whedon was brought in to complete the film. In the end, Whedon changed so much from Snyder's original plan that fans began rallying for Warner Bros. to release Snyder's version of the film. Three years of campaigning paid off in May, when news broke that the famed Snyder Cut will be released on HBO Max in 2021.
When Zack Snyder's Justice League was officially announced, rumors of Snyder conducting reshoots to complete the film were debunked, giving the indication Snyder was merely editing past footage. Then, last month, it was revealed that Snyder would be mounting reshoots for his Justice League, with most of the main cast expected to return. For some time, there were conflicting reports, as Superman actor Henry Cavill said he wouldn't be filming any new scenes.
According to a new report from THR, Justice League reshoots are currently in progress, with at least four major stars participating. As was initially expected, Ben Affleck (Batman) and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) are on set, as well as Amber Heard (Mera) and Jared Leto (the Joker, a new addition to the film). Exactly who else is on set hasn't been revealed, and it's unclear as to how long Affleck and Fisher will be working on these reshoots.
Fisher's involvement could come as a surprise to some, particularly since he accused Warner Bros. of lying about the Justice League reshoots. Earlier this year, Fisher came forward with allegations about Whedon's unprofessional on-set behavior, which has led to a very public fight with the studio. Nevertheless, Fisher is working on the new Justice League scenes now, and there's still a chance he'll reprise his Cyborg for the upcoming Flash movie.
Snyder's Justice League will be split into a four-part miniseries, indicating there's quite a lot of content to get through. Presumably, most of it was already shot in 2017, but Snyder now gets to complete whatever he was unable to back then. The inclusions of Affleck and Fisher means fans can expect more Batman and Cyborg scenes; the latter in particular is rather exciting, considering how the theatrical Justice League cut much of his storyline. Fans are eagerly awaiting news of when Zack Snyder's Justice League will arrive on HBO Max, though it seems likely that it won't be given a release date until closer to the end of the reshoots. Hopefully it won't be much longer before it all wraps up.
