Zack Snyder's Justice League is almost here, and here's what we know about the Snyder Cut's release time. The journey to this point has been long and arduous, but the wait is almost over. Officially announced in May 2020, Zack Snyder's Justice League is finally set to release on HBO Max on March 18, 2021 - almost four years after the filmmaker left the project in mid-2017 and over three years after Joss Whedon's version released in theaters.

Compared to the theatrical cut, which was just under two hours in length when discounting the credits, Zack Snyder's Justice League will be four hours long and contain all of the original footage completed during principal photography. A handful of scenes that were filmed in late 2020 will also be included, some of which bring back Jared Leto's Joker for the first time in five years. In total, Zack Snyder's Justice League should include approximately 75% of scenes that weren't in the theatrical cut, and the ones that were may look and sound different (thanks to an entirely new soundtrack).

Although it's been confirmed what day the movie comes out, HBO Max hasn't made it expressly clear - in their advertisements, that is - what time the film will be available. According to the movie's official Twitter account, Zack Snyder's Justice League releases at midnight PDT and 3 am EDT on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Note this is the release time for HBO Max only. Given the streaming service isn't available worldwide and that Zack Snyder's Justice League will be released on various platforms around the world, it's possible the release time will be different in other countries.

Zack Snyder's Justice League

The release time for Zack Snyder's Justice League makes sense, since it fits with how most streamers operate. Typically, release times on streaming services is 3 am EST/EDT, which means midnight Pacific; Netflix, Disney+, and other platforms all adhere to that timetable in order to have the release date line up for everybody. Amazon Prime, on the other hand, tends to drop their movies and TV shows in the evening on Thursdays, giving everyone a head start on their viewing. For Zack Snyder's Justice League, HBO Max is falling in line with the majority of its competitors.

While midnight is the official release time for Zack Snyder's Justice League, that timeframe may not necessarily be reused by HBO Max for other upcoming movies, such as Godzilla vs Kong. A few months ago, Wonder Woman 1984 released on HBO Max at 9am PST; since that was on Christmas Day, it's possible WarnerMedia wanted the film out at a time when families could watch it immediately, rather than have people stay up until midnight on Christmas Eve. 3am EDT makes the most sense going forward, but clearly there's flexibility depending on the need of the audience and time of year. Where the release times for HBO Max movies go from here remains to be seen, but for Zack Snyder's Justice League, it'll be out at midnight Pacific.
