The HBO Max release date for Zack Snyder's Justice League might come earlier than expected, based on new comments from WarnerMedia's CEO. After it became apparent that the version of Justice League that was released in theaters was vastly different than what director Zack Snyder had envisioned, fans campaigned for Warner Bros. to release what they dubbed the "Snyder Cut". The campaign lasted for several years, gaining the support of several Justice League stars and Snyder himself. Earlier this year, Snyder confirmed fans' efforts have paid off: The Snyder Cut will be released on HBO Max next year.

Aside from the official announcement confirming Justice League will debut next year, there's been little indication as to when it will arrive. Snyder has spent months editing his cut, which will be released as a four-part miniseries, and even conducted reshoots with stars like Ben Affleck and Ray Fisher. At one point, it was suggested that Justice League would be released in early-to-mid 2021, but no further details were given beyond that. Now, though, it sounds like that timeframe might not have been off the mark.

Fresh off the news of Warner Bros. releasing all of their 2021 movies on HBO Max on the same day as their theatrical debuts, Kilar penned a blog post both explaining that move and previewing what's to come for the still-growing streaming service. Justice League is only mentioned once, but it's a pretty telling line: "And this little thing called Zack Snyder’s Justice League coming in a few months as well."

The Justice League in Zack Snyder Director Cut

With that phrasing, it certainly sounds like Justice League will be released in the early part of 2021. Perhaps don't expect it in January or February, but March onward feels like a viable timeframe. When looking at Warner Bros.' DC slate, this timeline would make sense. The studio has Wonder Woman 1984 at the end of this month, and then its next scheduled film is The Suicide Squad in August. Surely, Warner Bros. will want to supply some DC content in the meantime. Enter: the Snyder Cut.

If Justice League really is heading for an early 2021 launch, an official release date could some soon. In fact, there's a chance Wonder Woman 1984's release will come with the eagerly-awaited piece of news. It would make sense to time the two, particularly since Wonder Woman 1984 will also be released on HBO Max. Of course, this is all speculation; with Wonder Woman 1984 debuting in just a few weeks, it will soon become apparent whether Warner Bros. will decide to take this route. If they don't, then a Justice League announcement could arrive as early as January. Either way, the Snyder Cut is coming in just a few months.
