The Snyder Cut of Justice League is reportedly targeting an early 2021 release on HBO Max. The fan campaign for the Snyder Cut began when the initial version of Justice League hit theaters and was torn apart by fans and critics. This was largely because director Zack Snyder's original vision for Justice League was completely altered by Joss Whedon when Whedon was brought in to complete filming following a family tragedy for Snyder. Since then, fans have fought long and hard for Warner Bros. to release Snyder's original cut. After years of campaigning, they received the news last month that the Snyder Cut is officially heading to HBO Max next year.

This unprecedented release means fans will finally get to see the storylines and characters that were removed from the theatrical cut of Justice League. Snyder has spent much of the past few years teasing his original Justice League, so fans already have a solid idea of what to expect. On the characters side, they'll finally get to see the likes of Martian Manhunter and Iris West in action, but odds are, most are especially looking forward to seeing Darkseid. The iconic DC villain was supposed to be Justice League's big bad, and fans have long waited to see him introduced into the DCEU.

Justice League's Snyder Cut still doesn't have an official release date, but for the first time, the broad time frame of 2021 has been narrowed down. Variety recently spoke to Sandra Dewey, WarnerMedia Entertainment's president of production and business operations, about the current state of HBO Max. During this conversation, the Snyder Cut was briefly touched upon, and Dewey revealed it will arrive in "early to mid-2021." Beyond that, no specifics were given, but this at least gives a better idea of when it will premiere.

Snyder still has to complete some work on Justice League before it can be released, and reportedly the work required has a hefty budget. Still, most of the footage seems to have already been shot, so it's mostly post-production work. Seeing as anticipation is already sky high and HBO Max needs some original content, it makes sense that those at WarnerMedia would be aiming for an earlier release.

More updates regarding the Snyder Cut are expected to arrive at DC FanDome, a virtual convention that's taking place on August 22. While the DC FanDome will cover numerous DCEU projects, the Justice League Snyder Cut is among those waiting to be discussed, and Snyder himself has confirmed he will be present. That all but guarantees there will be some exciting news, whether it's an official release date or perhaps even a trailer. Justice League fans have a lot to be excited for.
