Zack Snyder jokes he should've asked Ryan Reynolds to leak his Justice League. Last month saw the release of Snyder's director's cut of Justice League, a four-hour epic that fans have been fighting for since 2017. Snyder was the original director of the DCEU film, but he left midway through production due to a family tragedy. Warner Bros. then brought in Joss Whedon to complete the film, but Whedon altered the vast majority of what Snyder had planned. Justice League fans who were disappointed by the final cut began campaigning for the release of Snyder's version.

For three years, it seemed unlikely that the famed Snyder Cut of Justice League would ever be released. Warner Bros. stayed quiet on the subject, and it seemed like fans' efforts were playing on deaf ears. However, the Release the Snyder Cut movement was persistent, raising money and staging billboards. At long last, WB agreed to send Zack Snyder's Justice League to HBO Max. Even better, they gave Snyder complete creative control over the finished product, which is why it clocks in at 4 hours and is presented in a 4:3 ratio.

In 2019, Screen Rant received the opportunity to visit the set of Snyder's new Netflix film Army of the Dead and talk to the cast and crew. During the discussion, the concept of Reynolds leaking the Snyder Cut on the behalf of the director was floated, and Snyder had to laugh, agreeing that "Ryan’s a good guy probably to do it." He then seemed to really warm up to the idea, adding, "What are ya gonna do? What’s anyone gonna do to Ryan? He doesn’t care! (laughter) Zero f***s given (laughter). Good idea."

Reynolds has some experience with leaked footage, though it isn't quite clear if the actor was responsible. In 2014, test footage of Reynolds as foul-mouthed Marvel superhero Deadpool leaked online, leading to increased fan interest in a solo movie. That added excitement pushed Fox to greenlight a proper Deadpool film with Reynolds in the suit. Since then, Reynolds has repeatedly joked about trying to track down the mysterious leaker, but has yet to actually name a culprit. Could it have been him? He may never say.

Over the years, fans had begged Snyder to just leak his Justice League on his own. It would've gotten the movie into the hands of those who wanted it, but it wouldn't have been Snyder's finished vision. Still, it's funny to consider what would have happened if someone like Reynolds really did leak Justice League. Snyder might have a point in thinking Reynolds would be virtually untouchable in the event of something like this, though in reality there probably would have been consequences. Luckily, the Snyder Cut has been released properly, and now fans can watch it as often as they want.
