Fabian Wagner, the cinematographer on Justice League, is calling the upcoming Snyder Cut the only Justice League movie. Wagner is credited as the DP on both the 2017 theatrical release and Zack Snyder’s soon to be released cut, although he did not participate in Joss Whedon's reshoots. Wagner is also known for lensing several episodes of Game of Thrones and the film Victor Frankenstein.

With the date of March 18th finally set for the long-awaited release of the Snyder Cut, the official promotions have begun. Snyder was the original director of 2017’s Justice League before he had to step away due to a family emergency. Whedon took over the direction of the film and did a significant amount of re-shoots, many with the aim of lightening the film’s tone. Justice League performed poorly at both the box office and with critics, and Snyder fans have been rallying for Snyder’s original vision ever since. Warner Bros. first confirmed in May 2020 that the Snyder Cut would finally materialize via HBO Max, and now the premiere is right around the corner. Though the Snyder Cut was originally planned as a 4-part miniseries, it will now be released as a standalone movie, and it will reportedly be four hours long.

Wagner made his opinion about the Snyder cut clear when he posted one of the new posters for the film to his Instagram earlier today with the caption “#zacksnydersjusticeleague the Only Justice League.” The poster is one of three new images that Snyder also posted to his Twitter account today. Check out Wagner’s post below:

Now that Warner Bros. is in full-on marketing mode with the new posters and the official release date, a new trailer for the Snyder Cut is also set to release soon. The highly anticipated release will kick off a full year of WB’s releases that will hit the HBO Max platform the same day as theaters. Other upcoming titles include Godzilla vs. King, Space Jam: A New Legacy, In the Heights, and The Suicide Squad. For now, it’s unclear if the Snyder Cut will ever get a theatrical release, or if it will only reside on HBO Max.

With less than two months before the Justice League Snyder Cut release, it’s clear that people may have differing opinions about which version is the best. With the immense amount of drama surrounding Whedon and his version, it’s understandable why Wagner would want to distance himself from it, in addition to wanting to promote the upcoming release. After so much anticipation, the team has definitely set the bar of expectation high, especially considering that Snyder has said he has no plans to continue his original DCEU story, so this could be his final impression on the franchise. Here’s hoping that the Snyder Cut lives up to the hype.
