DC's biggest heroes unite against Darkseid in official pieces of Justice League Snyder Cut merchandise. Director Zack Snyder was poised to be the first to direct a proper live-action Justice League film back in 2017, but midway though production, he exited the project due to a family tragedy. Though Snyder's name remained on the finished product that was released months later, fans knew reshoots director Joss Whedon had changed a vast majority of what Snyder originally had planned, thus erasing the movie they had expected to see. A fan campaign was created soon after with the intention of getting Snyder's original Justice League released.
The Snyder Cut saga has seen its fair share of ups and downs over the years, and it finally paid off in 2020 when Snyder confirmed it will be released on HBO Max. The current plan is for Justice League to be released as a movie (not a miniseries, as was believed for some time) in March, with a specific date still to be named. Snyder has continued to tease his Justice League by sharing images and clips. From those alone, it's very clear that this will be a very different movie than Whedon's cut.
One of the drastic differences between the two is the presence of big bad Darkseid, the character Snyder always intended to have as the overarching villain. Darkseid has been glimpsed in various pictures and in the first trailer, and now he can be seen on the official Snyder Cut merchandise. Available for purchase on at the DC Shop, Darkseid is prominently displayed on three t-shirts, one of which includes the Justice League uniting to face him. Check out the designs down below.
This will mark Darkseid's first live-action film appearance, and it's been a long time coming. Snyder had big plans for Darkseid, plans that many fans still wish to see come to life. Recent weeks have seen a resurgence of support for Snyder's original DCEU plan, with fans mounting a brand new campaign. For the time being, Justice League is Snyder's only upcoming DC release, and the director has indicated he has no real intention of doing more.
Still, the Snyder Cut's release is already a thrilling occasion, particularly since a year ago it wasn't even clear if it would ever happen. There's a great deal of anticipation surrounding Justice League, and hopefully it proves to be everything fans have hoped for. That it now has official merchandise is just a symbol of how powerful fans' support is. It would've been unthinkable for the DC store to sell shirts advertising Snyder's Justice League up until last May, but now it's finally happening. Oh, how things change.
