A new image from the Snyder Cut of Justice League shows Darkseid fighting Ares' Army of Men in his original attempt to conquer Earth. More than two years following the theatrical release of the film, fans are still hoping to see the original version that director Zack Snyder made. It's no secret by now that Warner Bros. and DC Films heavily retooled Justice League after he left the project. Tonal shifts and a condensed storyline are just a few of the ways the film changed without Snyder's guidance.

The aftermath of these decisions has led to calls for the studios to release Snyder's original cut of the film, now known as the Snyder Cut. Fans have been using the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign throughout the last two years to bring more awareness of the differences and raise money for charity. Along the way, Snyder has continued to give fans glimpses of what his 214-minute long director's cut holds. One of the biggest differences that exists between the theatrical cut and Snyder's is the role of Darkseid, who is completely absent from the version of Justice League that has been seen.

One way that Darkseid was going to be in the Snyder Cut of Justice League was through the flashback sequence showing when his younger self, known as Uxas, attempted to invade Earth before. This scene was included in the theatrical version with Steppenwolf taking Darkseid's place as leader of the army. But a new image shared by Snyder on his Vero gives us a great look at Darkseid leading the charge against the Army of Men. Snyder captioned the photo below by saying, "Uxas clearing the defenders of earth from the anti-life equation. He better lookout for David Thewlis."

Justice League Darkseid Uxas History Lesson

This image may not be a completely finished frame from the battle sequence, but the post does further outline the Uxas scene. One particularly fascinating piece to the puzzle is Snyder mentioning David Thewlis, who played Ares in Wonder Woman, as someone Darkseid should look out for. It has previously been pieced together that Ares vs. Darkseid was a fight meant to happen in the Snyder Cut, but this is the first time Snyder has outright confirmed it. Snyder mentioning Thewlis is especially odd considering Nick McKinless was cast as Ares for the history lesson scene.

In addition to this brand new image, Snyder answered a variety of Darkseid related questions from his Vero followers. He also confirmed that the ruler of Apokolips has his own musical cues, thanks to the work by composer Junkie XL. With so much of Darkseid's role in Justice League (and Snyder's future plans) already revealed, this will only add to the desire for the Snyder Cut to be released. And if fans have their way, that's exactly what will happen.
