An HD clip of Superman in his black suit has been released from Zack Snyder's Justice League. The four-hour-long version of Snyder's original vision is gearing up to be released on HBO Max in March. The director has been teasing what's in store for the film, including a fleshed-out backstory for Victor Stone, AKA Cyborg, and a new look for Jared Leto's Joker.

With a couple more hours to fill and Snyder temporarily back in the DCEU, the director has promised plenty of surprises for the film. Snyder's vision for the DCEU, which he helped get off the ground with 2013's Man of Steel, was compromised after he left Justice League in 2017. Fans have campaigned for him to be given the green light to complete his original vision, but DC Films has made it clear they're no longer interested.

Luckily for fans of the director, Snyder will at least be able to complete his true vision for Justice League and that has always included Superman's black suit. Justice Con has posted the clip, originally shown last summer, in full HD. The clip shows Superman arriving at Bruce Wayne's estate, startling Alfred. Superman says, "I'm assuming you must be Alfred," before the clip cuts to black.

Snyder tried to sneak in the black suit in his original cut in post-production, but his departure made that impossible. Executives at Warner Bros. were not fans of the black suit, even though its creator from the comics gave his stamp of approval. The studio's reluctance towards the black suit is strange, especially considering it's in line with the very comic book arc that the suit is lifted from. When Superman is resurrected after his death at the hands of Doomsday, he returns in the black suit.

Snyder has said that the suit itself was important to the overall arc he had in mind for Cavill's Superman. According to Snyder, there was a five-film plan that would have seen Cavill's Superman become the idealized version of the character. The black suit was utilized to emphasize the evolution of the character, from his more humble beginnings in Man of Steel through his period of darkness in Justice League, ending up as what Snyder calls "the classic Superman." Unfortunately, that arc will likely never come to fruition, as Snyder's time in the DCEU was cut short. Snyder's Justice League will at least give fans a little bit of that arc, but it will also be a reminder of everything that never came to be.
