Last week we were able to finally see DC Entertainment's Justice League movie before participating in a conference with the cast and producers. Here we had half an hour to ask what we could about the making of the team-up epic, what's different this time around compared to previous films in the DCEU, and what we hope to see next.
While producers Chuck Roven and Deborah Snyder remained tight-lipped on when some of the upcoming spinoffs and sequels would be entering production, Jason Momoa was able to tease a few major story beats from DC Comics that fans can expect to see a year from now when Aquaman opens in theaters.
Of the expanded roster of heroes featured in Justice League, it's only Aquaman who gets a movie next year - a result of some delays and rapidly changing plans for the future of the DC movie universe. There are however, literally dozens of additional adaptations in various stages of development so should Justice League and Aquaman enjoy similar successes to that of this year's smash hit Wonder Woman, fans can expect plenty more in 2019 and beyond.
In that respect, Justice League serves a launchpad for not just future team-ups, but for stories based around the many new characters it introduces. As you'll see in the three exclusive videos below, Justice League offers a more traditional take on Batman and Wonder Woman - something Ben Affleck was particularly proud of - while also only teasing the beginnings of new characters Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash.
Note how much like their onscreen characters the cast is in real life. In that respect, it's the most perfect casting for the vision Zack Snyder has been building towards with each handpicked star even though - as Debbie points out - it's bittersweet that he was unable to see it all the way through. That's where Joss Whedon helped in completing what Zack started in a way Zack wanted it to be done.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, this marks the big screen debut of the Justice League, featuring an all-star lineup: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.
