Warning! Spoilers for Justice League Incarnate #2 by DC Comics

DC Comics has just reintroduced its Justice League satire that parodies some of Image Comics' greatest heroes - including the Youngblood superteam. In Justice League Incarnate #2, the titular Multiversal team ends up being sent to different realities after activating a failsafe following Darkseid's attack. Captain Carrot ends up getting transported to Earth-41, home of the Nimrod Squad - the world parodying the Image Comics heroes.

Youngblood is one of the '90s most popular superteams, as the Rob Liefeld-created series debuted in their own going series for Image Comics in 1992. The superteam worked alongside the U.S. Government and featured a handful of powerful heroes, including Shaft (an expert marksman and swordman), Badrock (who can make his body have a granite-like skin), Vogue (A Russian trained hero), Chapel (an assassin), and Sentinel (who is essentially the team's Juggernaut). Since debuting, the series has had numerous ongoing series and miniseries, which have primarily involved Liefeld in some capacity. However, Liefeld has not owned Youngblood's rights for some time or been involved in the series for the last few years.

In Justice League Incarnate #2 by Joshua Williamson, Dennis Culver, Kyle Hotz, Andrei Bressan, Paul Pelletier, Norm Rapmund, Hi-Fi, and Tom Napolitano, the issue ends with the titular team being sent across the Multiverse after initiating a self-destruct protocol for Harbinger. However, while Flashpoint Batman ends up in a cartoony-looking reality, and Avery Ho's Flash seems to be taken to the pirate-filled world of Earth-31, Captain Carrot ends up on Earth-41, home of the Image Comics and Youngblood parodies.

DC Multiverse

While readers only get a small glimpse of Captain Carrot on Earth-41, the characters behind him are instantly recognizable as the Nimrod Squad. Those heroes first appeared in Grant Morrison and Ivan Reis' The Multiversity, which showcased the characters from the different DC Comics Earths. The Image Comics analog featured many Youngblood/Justice League combination heroes, including Fletch (Green Lantern and Shaft), and Flinstein (Martian Manhunter and Badrock), both of who are seen behind Captain Carrot. It's not the first Earth-41 heroes that's played a part in Justice League Incarnate, as Dino-Cop, DC's pastiche of Savage Dragon, has been an important member of the team.

What's been really fun about the Justice League Incarnate limited series is that it's further explored many heroes and villains from different Earths readers only previously got a small glimpse of. Hopefully, the Nimrod Squad makes more than just a quick, fun cameo, as it would be very entertaining to see the Youngblood/Justice League fusion team in action. Justice League Incarnate #2 by DC Comics is in stores now.
