Warning! Spoilers for Justice League #62 by DC Comics below!

The Justice League have just crossed paths with their newest big bad in the DC Universe, Zumbado. The superteam had traveled to hero Naomi McDuffie's homeworld in an effort to stop Brutus from returning to Earth. However, after tangoing with the incredibly powerful alien, the Justice League just found out there are much bigger forces at play, including the return of Zumbado.

Zumbado first appeared in the original Naomi miniseries that introduced the new character created by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and Jamal Campbell. In that storyline, it's revealed Naomi's real parents were among a group of people who were granted god-like powers on an alternate version of Earth when its protective layers broke down during a crisis-like event. Zumbado, one of the humans affected, became a tyrant and murdered those who stood in his way, including Naomi's birth parents. Now, Naomi is returning to her homeworld to prevent another dangerous being named Brutus from being able to teleport to Earth as he looks for a new home for his people, as their planet has become a wasteland.

In Justice League #62 by Bendis, David Marquez, Ivan Plascencia, and Josh Reed, the heroes find themselves fighting against Brutus in a world where their powers are seriously on the fritz. Superman can barely keep his eyes open without his heat vision going off, while Black Canary's sonic scream is as powerful as it's ever been. In the midst of the battle, Black Adam catches up with Naomi as she floats in the sky looking down at the nearly dead planet. She tells Adam that Zumbado is responsible for the destruction caused on the planet. When the pair return to battle, they're unfortunately met by the man who's turned Naomi's homeworld into a hellscape.

Justice League Zumbado (3)

After the Justice League takes down Brutus, the Flash tells the team they need to leave now. When Naomi responds by saying they can't just leave, Zumbado arrives on the scene and tells them he's the one who decided who can come and go. He personally greets Naomi and notices that she "brought friends."

Zumbado is a deadly killer who's responsible for not only murdering innocents but has left his homeworld in shambles after causing destruction throughout. Given his massive power levels, the newest iteration of the Justice League is going to have to band together and fight back with all the power they have against the monstrous villain. Zumbado wants to make sure they never return home. Can the Justice League stop him before it's too late?
