Zack Snyder is hoping his version of the Justice League will wipe out Joss Whedon's cut out of existence. The director was given the opportunity to finish his original plan for the film after it was significantly changed when he stepped away from the project due to a personal tragedy.

Releasing on HBO Max in 2021, Snyder's Justice League is essentially the filmmaker's intended story for the Warner Bros. and DCEU ensemble project which hit theaters in 2017. Repurposed to be a four-part mini-series, Snyder was also given additional funding to polish his cut, as well as, add new scenes — some of which will feature the return of Jared Leto's Joker from Suicide Squad. As fans eagerly anticipate the nearing rollout of this new version of Justice League, Snyder is interacting with his fervent supporters online, indulging them by answering questions and participating in general discussions.

One fan wrote on Snyder's official Vero account asking for every copy of Whedon's Justice League to be destroyed, and the director replied by saying that he wishes that his HBO Max project can erase that other version of the narrative from existence. This thrilled the director's followers as this also essentially confirms that the Snyder Cut is releasing on the streaming service sometime this upcoming March. Snyder has been vocal about disowning the theatrical cut of Justice League. He was more reserved before it was announced that he's returning to finish his original plan for the movie, but he's been more forthcoming with this ever since that was confirmed in May. He also famously revealed that he refuses to watch Whedon's take, more likely because the reviews and word of mouth about it were more than enough for him to decide not to. Aside from Snyder, other DCEU directors also apparently don't like what Whedon did with Justice League. Wonder Woman 1984 filmmaker Patty Jenkins recently revealed that she alongside her comrades pretty much tossed that iteration out much like how fans did because it's not in line with their characterization of their respective heroes.

It's expected the upcoming HBO Max Justice League will be very different from what hit theaters three years ago. As has been said multiple times, Whedon's reshoots changed a lot of what Snyder was planning for the movie, leaving full character arcs and other elements on the cutting room floor. Unfortunately, however, regardless of how good this new Justice League will be, it's not going to be DCEU canon — Snyder himself confirmed this when asked how it relates to the continuity established in the franchise. So while a lot of people want to just forget about Whedon's cut, it will still be part of the official universe.
