After the release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the DC Extended Universe is now primed for expansion. Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Batman (Ben Affleck), and Superman (Henry Cavill) made their debut in the uneven but enjoyable superhero throw-down, along with The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). Zack Snyder’s follow up to BVS, Justice League is currently in production in locations around the United Kingdom and Iceland.

Although filming is well underway, there are still a number of mysterious characters and roles being kept under wraps. Recently, Welsh actor Julian Lewis Jones announced his participation in the upcoming superhero assemblage.

In a recent interview with Wales Online, Jones proclaimed his presence in Justice League (via CBM). Jones, who played Karl in the Sky 1 show Stella, discussed his prior part in Clint Eastwood’s 2009 film, Invictus, as well as his upcoming projects. Nevertheless, when it came to his role in the forthcoming film, the actor was understandably tight-lipped. Jones says:

“I’m not allowed to say yet what part I play but let’s just say I’ve a role in what will likely be the most expensive film ever made. Directed by Zack Snyder it stars Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons and host of A-list actors. I’m just happy to have been involved and I’m looking forward to the movie’s release which will be next year.”

Justice League: Welsh Actor Julian Lewis Jones Cast in Mystery Role

The film’s plot, as with Jones’ role, is still being kept under lock and key. So far, small details have slipped out, such as Batman’s involvement in recruiting of The Flash, Willem Dafoe’s part as Atlantean Nuidis Vulko, and the presence of the Atlanteans. Matching rumors to confirmed details, we can assume the rumors about the prologue taking place in the distant past have a measure of truth to them.

With a number of parts still secreted away, though, it’s tough to pinpoint Jones’ exact role in the upcoming film. It sounds like the actor was fairly extensively involved in the shooting, both on-location and at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studio. As a result, his character could have significant impact on the overall course of action in the film. Early speculation has him playing anything from Atlan, the first king of Atlantis, to a villainous voiceover mo-cap character like Darkseid or the movie’s main menace, Steppenwolf.

No matter which character he plays in Justice League, he’ll be sharing the screen with an amazing cast which includes J.K. Simmons as a badass” Commissioner Gordon, Dafoe, Gadot, Affleck, and many more. It will be curious to see where the Welsh actor will wind up. Will he fight against a reborn Superman and the League, wind up as part of the super-heroic posse, or help unravel the picture’s mythology.

Who do you think Jones will play in the upcoming Justice League?
