Jared Leto's full Joker look in Zack Snyder's upcoming Justice League cut has been revealed. Snyder's long fought campaign to bring his vision of the DCEU to fruition is coming to a head, with the Snyder Cut gearing up for release on HBO Max in March. Originally meant to be a four hour miniseries, the film will now release as one long feature and Snyder has some exciting surprises in store, including a previously teased new look for Joker.

Leto was not originally involved in Justice League, both in its original conception and in Snyder's vision. When Snyder was given free reign to bring his vision to life, with a reported budget in the tens of millions for reshoots, Snyder cold-called Leto to ask him if he wanted to be involved. The nature of Joker's appearance remains mysterious, as did the new look that Snyder showed for the character. The photo was rather blurry, with the focus on the Joker card in the character's hand rather than on Leto's appearance.

Now, VF has revealed a full look at Leto's Joker. Leto still sports the white face he did in Suicide Squad, but the make-up around his mouth is smudged. His hair is also longer, as teased by the previous photo. Joker also looks to be in a cell in the picture and he's wearing what looks to be a smock of some sort, a big departure from his high-fashion sensibilities in his previous appearances. Leto's new look is no surprise - each director that tackles the character is expected to put their own twist on it at this point. As previously noted, despite this being the same Joker in Suicide Squad, it looks like we'll be visiting him during a different era. Joker's appearance in Justice League seems to be a sign of things to come - he will appear in a Knightmare sequence that takes place after Darkseid's invasion of earth. The demonic look is one of necessity, not choice, with the photo of Joker in the same setting as the one previously revealed in the look at Kightmare Batman.

Joker's resilience is a key component of the character and it seems that he survives whatever Darkseid rains down on earth in the future. This could be Snyder's sly way of ensuring that Leto's Joker appears in a future Justice League sequel. While DC Films has no obligation to follow through on the director's vision, it's something the fans clearly want after #RestoreTheSnyderVerse became a trending topic online. Snyder's cut of Justice League is one way to do that and, if fan reception is positive enough, DC and WB might just listen and continue the threads that Snyder began in his version of the film.
