In Zack Snyder's Justice League, Batman reveals the last words of Harley Quinn in the future, and they're absolutely perfect. The new cut of the film on HBO Max features a brand new sequence set in the dark future first seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In it, Batman has assembled those who remain, but due to Darkseid having wreaked untold devastation upon the world, not every person on Batman's team is a hero. Surprisingly, the Joker is on the team, and he and the Dark Knight have a very intense exchange, and Harley's death is brought up.

While not originally a part of director Zack Snyder's intended theatrical release, a new "Knightmare" sequence was filmed in the 2020 reshoots for the HBO Max release, seeing the Dark Knight experience another premonition about a dark future where Superman becomes corrupted by Darkseid after Lois Lane's death. In this new dream/premonition, Batman is joined by Mera, Cyborg, Flash, and Deathstroke (played by Joe Manganiello), and they've supposedly come up with a plan to restore the world. However, the big reveal is that Jared Leto's Joker is also a part of the Dark Knight's coalition.

In the Snyder Cut, Joker can't help but taunt Batman, tormenting him about all of his lost loved ones over the years. This includes the death of Robin, whom Joker killed himself. However, he also offered the Dark Knight a joker card of truce, promising his help until the day Batman decided to rip the card. Naturally, this prompted Batman to respond to the Clown Prince of Crime with dark words of his own, telling him that it's funny that Joker is talking about all of the people who died in his arms since he also held Harley Quinn as she was dying. According to Batman:

"she (Harley) begged me with her last breath, that when I killed you (Joker), and make no mistake I will f---ing kill you...that I'd do it slow."

Despite Batman taking the card from Joker, he does claim that he'll eventually honor his promise to Harley and her last request to kill him. The fact that Harley Quinn's final words were to beg for Joker's life to painfully end is incredibly perfect for a few reasons. Not only does it make sense due to the fact that Joker corrupted, manipulated, and finally rejected Harley in past DCEU films, but learning that Harley wanted to make sure Joker would eventually get what he deserves even after her own death is a testament to how free of his control she became after they parted ways.

Additionally, a darker and more speculative reason could be that Joker himself was the one to kill Harley, who then died in Batman's arms. Harley's last words could be a request that her death be avenged by the Dark Knight, on top of all the other reasons why she would want her ex to die slowly. Unfortunately, the full details and subsequent resolution might never be known, as Zack Snyder's Justice League will most likely be the last DCEU fans see of Ben Affleck's Batman and Jared Leto's Joker. Even so, learning about Harley Quinn's death and epic last words is still a dynamic scene to have, especially considering how it affected both the Dark Knight and Clown Prince in the Justice League's dark future.
