A new Justice League previs offers fans a look at a deleted extended fight scene between Mera and Steppenwolf. Warner Bros. and DC Films' first ensemble superhero movie brought together Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman for the first time on the big screen. DC's premier group of heroes formed for the first time in theaters to battle Steppenwolf and his army of extraterrestrial monsters known as Parademons. However, despite its potential, the film performed poorly at the box office and was criticized for its thin narrative.

It's no secret that Justice League went through a tumultuous production. While original director Zack Snyder still got the sole directing credit for the movie, Joss Whedon, who manned the film's extensive reshoots, had the last say on the film's final cut. This prompted Snyder fans to launch a campaign demanding the release of the so-called Snyder Cut. Sadly, the chances that'll ever happen are slim, considering that almost a year after the movie came out, Warner Bros. remains silent on the matter. That, however, doesn't stop leaks of videos (like this latest one), and details about what the Snyder version of the film would've looked like.

From Twitter user Vamos Ramos comes a previz of the extended fight between Mera and Steppenwolf in Justice League, after the latter arrived in Atlantis unannounced in the hopes of grabbing one of the Mother Boxes. While the source says that the whole sequence was filmed, it's unclear whether or not it really was. Check out the clip below:

Much like with other deleted scenes from Justice League, the cut sequences above are brief, almost hard to notice at first look. But upon closer examination, the subtle changes become more obvious. While this removed segment of the fight wouldn't have made any difference to the film's narrative, seeing Mera being able to showcase her powers during her first big screen appearance would've given people a better idea of what to expect from her character when she and Arthur take center stage in James Wan's Aquaman.

As seen in the trailers and promos released for Aquaman so far, Mera will be pivotal to Arthur's return to Atlantis. Not only is she the one to warn him about Orm's evil plans to launch a war against the surface world, she accompanies him in his quest to find the missing trident of King Atlan. As Amber Heard revealed, her character won't be the stereotypical love interest for Arthur in Aquaman, instead, the pair will be equal partners. That's not to say that there won't be an attraction between them, but the love aspect will be secondary to the film's main narrative, which tackles Aquaman's quest to claim his position as the rightful heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. Chances are their relationship might be developed over the series, making an eventual coupling feel earned. Fans won't have to wait that long to find out, with Aquaman's solo movie debut arriving in December.
