Fan art imagines what a comic-accurate Darkseid would've looked like in Justice League. Warner Bros. and DC's first ensemble superhero film is approaching its two-year anniversary, but it remains a favorite topic of conversation among fans due to its controversial production. While Zack Snyder got the sole directing credit, it was Joss Whedon who assembled the final cut of the film, dictating how its story was going to panned out.

This paved the way for the Release the Snyder Cut movement - a petition that demands Warner Bros. to release the original cut of the movie with Junkie XL's (the original composer before Danny Elfman stepped in) intended musical score. Supporters of the petition continue to work actively to reach their goal, but Warner Bros. remains mum about the idea - with no indication that they're looking to give into the request. So while the public awaits for the potential roll out, some busy themselves imagining what cut concept and characters from Justice League might have looked like if Snyder's original plan came to fruition.

Online artist datrinti shares his rendition of Darkseid, assuming that he appeared in Justice League. According to the creator, he wanted it to look more comic-accurate compared to the stylized version with a bulky armor. Check it out below:

Not too long ago, Snyder shared Darkseid's cut appearance in Justice League, however, it was too blurry to see the details of the antagonist's character design. Fans can remember that the DC villain was originally tipped to appear during its History Lessosn sequence, albeit Snyder's version was significantly different than what ended up on the big screen. In Whedon's cut, the said bit came to be when Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) explained to Bruce Wayne/Batman (Ben Affleck) the origin of the Mother Boxes. Snyder's original vision, however, would've had Diana discover a mural, triggering the flashback sequence where a young Darkseid battles a young Ares. While he was never going to be the primary villain of the narrative, his scrapped involvement was to establish his presence in the DCEU in preparation of his eventual introduction.

While there's currently no plans for Justice League Part 2, that doesn't mean that Darkseid will no longer appear in the DCEU. New Gods director Ava Duvernay recently confirmed that the villain, alongside The Furies will make their appearance in her upcoming film. While he was a staple in the narrative's comics source, fans didn't expect an appearance considering his scrapped role in Justice League, especially since Warner Bros. seems to be veering away from Snyder's vision for the franchise. In any case, it'll be interesting to see what Duvernay's approach in terms of Darkseid's characterisation and aesthetic.
