A new open-world Justice League game is on the way from noted family-friendly publisher Outright Games, and it puts a cute spin on DC’s greatest heroes and villains. The past few years have been very fruitful for fans of comic book-based video games, thanks to offerings like WB Montreal’s team-based Gotham Knights. Even more interactive DC action is on the horizon in the form of Monolith Studio’s Wonder Woman game and Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. New DC Studios head James Gunn has even teased video game tie-ins for the DC Cinematic Universe as part of his plans to revitalize the long-troubled film franchise. While many of these upcoming DC video games coming after 2022 seem to be darker and more focused on an older audience, a newly announced title is instead aimed toward families and younger superhero fans. As reported by Game Rant, publisher Outright Games has just given players their first full look at Justice League: Cosmic Chaos, an open-world, family-friendly co-op title that was first teased in May. A brief trailer for the game was posted on Outright’s official Twitter account earlier this week, featuring cel-shaded graphics and cute, miniature versions of classic DC heroes like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Cosmic Chaos will see gamers take to the streets of Happy Harbor in either single-player or couch co-op to save the world from a new supervillain: the mischievous and realty-warping Mxy.Related: James Gunn Says New DC Games Will Be Connected To The DCU

Justice League: Cosmic Chaos Offers Family-Friendly DC Action

Players will have to face off against the dreaded Starro the Conquerer, who was recently the focus of Gotham Knights’ recently-added Heroic Assault mode. Meanwhile, Justice League: Cosmic Chaos’s main antagonist Mxy is a longtime foil to Superman and was chosen as the game’s primary antagonist due to his chaotic nature and love of pranks. While the brief Justice League: Cosmic Chaos trailer shared by Outright Games was mainly focused on DC’s main trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, other heroes like The Flash, Aquaman, and Green Lantern will be included.

Cosmic Chaos isn’t Outright Games’ first foray into the DC Universe, as the publisher also released The League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace, a recent tie-in to this year’s animated DC League of Super-Pets. This, along with other family-friendly Switch co-op games like PJ Masks: Heroes of the Night, has demonstrated Outright’s penchant for fun superhero action that can be enjoyed by every age group, and Justice League: Cosmic Chaos looks to continue this ethos with its colorful comic-like aesthetic and simple co-op gameplay.

Indeed, Cosmic Chaos looks like it could be a solid superhero brawler and a fun contrast to the darker and grittier DC games of recent memory like Gotham Knights or Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Fans won’t have to wait much longer to jump into the zany action, as Justice League: Cosmic Chaos is set to launch on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Steam on March 10, 2023.
