The latest Jurassic World themed ride, aptly named the VelociCoaster, has been revealed with a new trailer, images, and thrilling ride details. As fans await the arrival of the third and final film in the Jurassic World trilogy, Universal Orlando’s latest attraction looks superb.

It’s clearly been a tough year for theme parks in general, due to the persistence of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this hasn’t stopped many of the major parks and attractions from opening, and attendance at some parks such as Universal Orlando has still managed to see some strong days. As theme parks continue to build alongside highly successful movie franchises like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Jurassic World, fans remain consistently eager to check out what’s on offer. There has long been talk of a Jurassic World themed rollercoaster at Universal Orlando, but to date, fans haven’t known what exactly this entails. For Jurassic World fans who love rollercoasters, however, the idea of putting the two concepts together is a very enticing prospect. At the same time, many questions surrounded the new ride and fans were ever hopeful that the end result wasn’t simply some basic cash in on the franchise.

Thanks to Universal Orlando, we now know the answer to many of these questions. The Jurassic World VelociCoaster looks absolutely amazing from start to finish. Any reservations about the ride being anything less than a thrilling addition to Universal’s Island of Adventure theme park should now be sufficiently quashed. A peek at the new coaster can be seen in the trailer below, along with a couple of official images that highlight the intensity of the ride, and the stunning 155-foot drop while reaching speeds of 70 mph across more than 4,700 feet of track:

The ride sounds and looks like it attempts to replicate at least some of the rush of adrenaline that Jurassic World represents. Soaring through the air and speeding across land and water, the coaster performs a “one-of-a-kind” 360-degree barrel roll above the park’s Islands of Adventure lagoon. It also offers riders the chance to experience zero-gravity on 100 feet of track, with 12 seconds of airtime throughout the entire ride. At one point, the VelociCoaster propels guests 155 feet into the air before heading straight into an 80-degree drop – the steepest drop of any Universal attraction. All in all, this is one movie-themed ride that looks like it’s got plenty to offer the bravest of guests.

At present, the Jurassic World VelociCoaster is due to officially open at the Universal Orlando park in the summer of 2021. Hopefully, by then, operating standards will have returned to normal and the park will be able to host some very eager Jurassic World and rollercoaster enthusiasts. Until next summer, however, fans will have to settle for the ride’s very engaging trailer and images provided by Universal.
