Ahead of the impending release of Jurassic World: Dominion, the iconic franchise has joined the modern world with a TikTok account. The Jurassic series began in 1993 with Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, a popcorn blockbuster epic that used state-of-the-art CGI technology to bring dinosaurs to life and devour the box office, rising to #1 for the entire year. Naturally, the film spawned two big-budget sequels until going dormant in 2001. In 2015, the series was resurrected as Jurassic World, which was followed by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018. The third Jurassic World was one of the first blockbuster films to resume production following pandemic delays, picking back up in July 2020 and wrapping that November.

Jurassic World: Dominion, the sixth Jurassic film overall, is set to premiere in theaters on June 10, 2022. The film is expected to follow up on the finale of Fallen Kingdom, which showed that dinosaurs and humans are now going to coexist on the mainland United States. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are reprising their roles from the previous films, joined by original Jurassic Park actors Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm, and BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu.

As of today, Jurassic World is officially on TikTok. They have announced their debut on the video-sharing platform with a clip from the original film. As Richard Attenborough intones "welcome to Jurassic Park" in his inimitable voice, the iconic gates open and the Jeep drives up to... a giant floating TikTok logo.

The platform is still largely populated by individuals, including some stars like Drew Barrymore, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jack Black. Usually when brands want to promote a new film, they'll attempt to start a meme and have users spread it, like the popular Godzilla vs. Kong roar challenge from earlier this year. However, Jurassic World is hopping on a slowly growing trend of film brands joining the widespread video sharing service as their own entity.

It is currently unknown what kind of material Jurassic World will choose to share with the TikTok audience at large. So far, after about an hour online at the time of writing, the page has only been followed by fewer than 1,000 TikTok users. It will likely take a couple of posts before the page establishes its identity as a TikTok presence and begins to garner an audience. However, Jurassic Park fans might want to jump on the bandwagon early in case this means new footage from the film is coming soon.
