New footage from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is here in the form of a Super Bowl ad. Included in the plethora of trailers airing during Super Bowl LII, the clip teases fans of what they can expect from the sequel directed by A Monster Calls helmer JA Bayona. Lead cast members Chris Pratt (Owen) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire) are set to return, this time in a bigger setting but with a very familiar mission - to once again prevent dinosaur extinction.

Principal photography - mainly set at Pinewoods London with additional filming in Hawaii - wrapped back in July 2017, with the filmmaker working on the finishing touches for the film. Bayona has some very high expectations to reach for the follow-up after the film's 2015 predecessor Jurassic World earned more than $1.6 billion worldwide and became the fourth-highest grossing film of all time, just below Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

With a release set in the middle of the usually huge summer movie season, Fallen Kingdom has a shot at performing at the same level as the Colin Trevorrow-directed flick, but it needs to elevate the franchise's storytelling if Universal Pictures wants a sustainable franchise on their hands. Marketing has already kicked off with the release of the first trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom last December, and it continues with a brand new release. Check out the freshly unveiled Fallen Kingdom trailer above.

Trevorrow, who passed on directing the sequel after being originally tapped to direct Star Wars: Episode IX (not the case anymore as JJ Abrams is set to close out the current trilogy) remains to be involved in the production. Aside from executive producing, he also co-wrote the film with Derek Connolly. That said, with Fallen Kingdom supposedly bringing the franchise to its horror roots, Bayona's resume as helmer of 2007's The Orphanage and even two episodes of Showtime's Penny Dreadful could definitely help that cause considering the series has become more of an action-adventure movie over the years. And if this new trailer is any indication, the Spanish filmmaker brought some horror elements to it, especially in the opening sequence of the promo with the piano theme playing in the background.

The fifth installment in the ongoing Jurassic Park saga, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the second installment in Universal’s revitalized Jurassic series and possibly the building block for the third film in the new narrative.  Aside from Pratt and Howard, as well as B.D. Wong's Dr. Henry Wu, it will also see the return of fan favorite old-timer  Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm and perhaps even Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant. If that's the case, that's definitely additional motivation for fans of the franchise to check out the new installment.
