Frontier's upcoming Jurassic World Evolution easily placed on Screen Rant's most anticipated video games of 2018. After all, it's combining one of the biggest movie franchises ever with the developer that brought us Planet Coaster and Elite: Dangerous.

We had the opportunity to get hands-on with they dinosaur theme park sim a few weeks ago on the Universal Studios lot where the summer release date for Jurassic World Evolution was revealed to us. Today we can finally share that Jurassic World Evolution will release digitally on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on June 12, 2018 and a few weeks later, on July 3, 2018 it'll release in physical form for the consoles. No PC date has been set.

These dates envelope the theatrical release date for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the fifth movie in the dino franchise inspired by the works of author Michael Crichton, and a movie that brings back Jeff Goldblum in a cameo role. Goldblum has a key role as a main character in Jurassic World Evolution as well, offering his voice to play the "conscience" of sorts for the players as they expand their park across five islands and introduced upwards of 30 different types of dinosaurs (and a few hybrids for good measure).

Jurassic World digital release date: June 12 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

But don't let the date and IP fool you, Jurassic World Evolution is not a movie tie-in like the awful games of previous console generations. It tells an all-new story that touches on key characters and events from across the Jurassic World film franchise. Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm guides players through the moral choices and tactical decisions that will test their building and management skills as they attempt to successfully run their own Jurassic World.

Jurassic World Evolution places players in control of operations on the legendary island of Isla Nublar and the surrounding islands of the Muertes Archipelago. Players will build their own Jurassic World as they bioengineer new dinosaur breeds and construct attractions, containment and research facilities. Every choice leads to a different path and spectacular challenges arise when “life finds a way.”
