A new trailer for Jurassic World Dominion teases a major character death. The dinosaurs have returned to wreak some havoc in Jurassic World Dominion, the third and final sequel in the Jurassic World franchise and the sixth installment in the overall Jurassic Park film series. As the franchise draws to a close, some casualties are expected on the human side.

The second Jurassic World Dominion trailer is shorter than the last, but it packs an even bigger punch in terms of what’s at stake for the world’s human population. The dinosaurs are roaming free and there is no place to hide as they bombard city streets, gulping people up before they have a chance to defend themselves. And while most of the characters are fighting back against the dinosaurs, it’s Henry Wu’s emotional realizations about the catastrophe wrought upon the world (partially) through his doing that is perhaps the most surprising. Henry was one of the chief scientists, alongside Laura Sorkin, on the project to recreate dinosaurs using their discovered DNA. In Jurassic World, his genetic modifications to the dinosaurs made them more like weapons he and others could later use.

However, Jurassic World Dominion suggests Henry Wu is a changed man. In the trailer, he admits to making grave mistakes, works with Owen, Claire and their team, and is also seen holding what could be a baby velociraptor. It’s possible the film is setting up his redemption story. He’s the only one who seems to feel any remorse for his actions, which could mean Henry has realized what he's done wrong after everything that's happened and is finally willing to take action to prevent more deaths and chaos. These scenes could also be foreshadowing Henry’s death. In many movies, redemption for a former antagonist can lead to their demise. Famously, Kylo Ren died shortly after he decided to embrace the light side in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Henry Wu has continued recreating dinosaurs for decades now with little personal consequence. It’s clear he’s seeing the error of his ways and is finally working to help stop the dinosaurs with the rest of the main characters. Killing him off at the end of Jurassic World Dominion could prove heartbreaking. Henry has been around since Jurassic Park and — while it would be more interesting to watch him grow into someone beyond his love of cloning — his death would have a major impact because of his longevity within the franchise. This is especially true if he turned things around before it happened. His potential death at the hands of the creatures he helped bring back to life would be devastating and, to some extent, a longtime coming because he’s managed to get away from them on several occasions over the course of the franchise.

Henry Wu seems like a changed man in Jurassic World Dominion. He will likely play a crucial role in preventing the dinosaurs from taking over the planet and killing the human population. Henry has a lot to make up for; his greed for money and experimentation with dinosaur DNA certainly put him on the map. But the devastation in his voice as he speaks about making mistakes suggests he’s changing for the better and is aware of the chaos he helped create. Whether or not his death actually happens remains to be seen, but Jurassic World Dominion seems to be headed in that direction.
