A new Jurassic World: Dominion image reveals the brand new raptor known as the Atrociraptor as it chases after a motorcycle-riding Chris Pratt. The third installment in the Jurassic Park sequel franchise picks up four years after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in which the young clone Maisie released the genetically engineered dinosaurs out into the world. Humanity now finds itself struggling to adjust to a new world in which they must co-exist with the invasive dinosaur species.

The sci-fi adventure threequel will see the returns of the majority of both the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World rosters, namely Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Daniella Pineda, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith and BD Wong. Jurassic World: Dominion will also mark the franchise introductions of Campbell Scott as Dr. Lewis Dodgson, the CEO of Biosyn Genetics previously portrayed by Cameron Thor in the original Jurassic Park, Mamoudou Athie, Dichen Lachman, Scott Haze and DeWanda Wise. Production on the third Jurassic World film took nearly a year to complete due to the global pandemic, though the studio is now gearing up to finally bring the film to theaters next summer.

As part of the magazine's new issue, Empire has debuted a new Jurassic World: Dominion image. The photo offers the first look at the threequel's new raptor addition named the Atrociraptor as it chases after Chris Pratt's Owen Grady through a stairwell. Check out the exciting new image below:

Jurassic World Atrociraptor

With every new Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movie comes a host of new dinosaurs stalking and killing the unlucky humans to cross their paths and the Atrociraptors mark an interesting new addition to the roster. The entire franchise has always had a particular affection for Velociraptors, with Sam Neill's Alan Grant memorably carrying a raptor claw in the original Jurassic Park and learning to speak with them in Jurassic Park III while Chris Pratt's Owen Grady served as the rebooted park's on-site animal behaviorist, primarily with four Velociraptors. Though the Jurassic Park and World movies have primarily highlighted the race's intelligence, it appears the new raptor in the upcoming threequel will bring a little more than that.

As stated in the Empire interview by writer/director Colin Trevorrow, the new Atrociraptors bring more brute force to their hunt in comparison to the stealthy nature of the Velociraptors seen in previous films. The Atrociraptors mark one of a number of new dinosaur species set to make their debut in Jurassic World: Dominion, though with Trevorrow having previously discussed new dinosaurs wouldn't come from hybridization, it will be interesting to see how they arrive in the film. Only time will tell when Jurassic World: Dominion hits theaters on June 10, 2022.
