While audiences continue to debate the film's merits, Screen Junkies' Jurassic World Dominion Honest Trailer is taking aim at the film's flaws. The latest installment in the dino-based movie franchise acts a culmination of both the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World storylines, picking up four years after Fallen Kingdom saw dinosaurs released unto the world. As humanity learns to live alongside the creatures, original trio Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm and Ellie Sattler investigate a conspiracy that could threaten the world, while Owen Grady and Claire Dearing set out to rescue Blue's baby and Maisie when they are both kidnaped for scientific research.

Jurassic World Dominion featured a large ensemble cast including franchise vets Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Isabella Sermon, BD Wong, Justice Smith and Omar Sy, as well as the debuts of Campbell Scott and DeWanda Wise. Directed by Colin Trevorrow on a script he co-wrote with Emily Carmichael, the film hit theaters this past June to generally negative reviews from critics, while audiences remained generally favorable towards the threequel. Jurassic World Dominion would also go on to become the second-highest-grossing film of 2022 behind Top Gun: Maverick, grossing over $975 million against its $185 million production budget.

In time for the film's home media release, Screen Junkies has set their sights on Jurassic World Dominion for their latest Honest Trailer. The video pokes fun at the barrel-scraping franchise finale, its simple-minded story and moving away from the dinosaur-focused thrills to locusts. Check out the funny video below:

As the Jurassic World Dominion Honest Trailer notes, both the original Jurassic Park films and new trilogy saw their debut chapters receive positive reviews from critics and set groundwork for sequels that subsequently received poorer critical reactions. While Jurassic World may not have reached the 92 percent approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes of the original Jurassic Park, its 71 percent rating made it the best received sequel in the franchise, and the only to get a "Fresh" rating on the review aggregate. Jurassic World Dominion ultimately clocked in as the worst-reviewed installment in either franchise, garnering a 30 percent approval rating from critics on RT, falling well short of Jurassic Park 3's 49 percent and Fallen Kingdom's 47 percent ratings.

While critics have remained mostly positive for its visual effects and some of its performances, namely Dern and Wise, they took a number of issues with Jurassic World Dominion, with most generally feeling the franchise had run its course and delivered a preposterous and thinly written story. The clone and locust storyline of the film, as pointed out in the Jurassic World Dominion Honest Trailer, were two of the biggest points of criticism as the former retconned Fallen Kingdom's story with a weaker backstory for Maisie and the latter taking away from the potential for more dino-heavy action. For those who did enjoy the seeming franchise closer, they can revisit Jurassic World Dominion available on 4K Ultra-HD, Blu-ray and DVD and digital platforms now.
