The Jurassic World Dominion trailer promises an Earth that has been radically changed by the re-introduction of dinosaurs and reveals why they're so bad for the planet. One of the story reveals from the Jurassic World Dominion trailer was that the dinosaurs set free in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom have played havoc with Earth's ecosystem, and there's a solid amount of science to back that up. Originally cloned from preserved DNA in 1993's Jurassic Park, the dinosaurs that currently exist in the franchise have been subjected to generations of genetic tampering from various scientists.

However, one of the qualities that the ancient and formerly extinct dinosaurs still possess is their ability to hunt. This has come into play throughout the Jurassic Park franchise as humans have been pitted against the ancient predators, and one of the central tenets of the franchise is that humans and dinosaurs would simply not be able to coexist. The trailer for Jurassic World Dominion - one of the most anticipated sci-fi movies of 2022 - reveals that the dinosaurs pose a threat to more than just humanity, though: they're also a danger to the planet itself.

While it may not be surprising to many, the introduction of numerous new species into the environment is bound to upset the delicate balance of life on Earth, and the Jurassic World Dominion trailer makes this abundantly clear. In fact, the trailer goes to great lengths to reference the ecological and environmental problems caused by the release of the dinosaurs, hinting that it may be a major plot point. Whether or not this will be the case remains to be seen, but the science behind the idea is remarkably sound.

With dinosaurs now loose upon the world at large, Dominion sets Jurassic World apart from the original movies, and one of the major differences is the way that its dinosaurs are free to interact with the world at large. This would undoubtedly see the predators hunting indigenous species, which in turn would upset the delicate balance of the global ecosystem. Historically speaking, introducing even one new species of animal into an unfamiliar habitat can decimate local wildlife and drastically alter the local ecosystem, so introducing multiple species of large predators at once would almost certainly be catastrophic.

Not only could the dinosaurs make other species extinct by entering the food chain, but their presence could also have unforeseen far-reaching effects. As well as the franchise's existing dinosaurs, Jurassic World Dominion introduces new species of raptors, too, which would radically change humanity's ability to operate as normal. Humans' daily lives and routines would have to change massively in order to incorporate the constant threat of death by dinosaur, and society as a whole would need to adapt in order to survive.

Modern society is the result of thousands of years of human evolution, and for the most part, the global ecosystem is a part of humanity's place on Earth. With dinosaurs so suddenly introduced into the mix, there would be a radical shift in the natural pecking order - something which is hinted at in the trailer. Exactly how Jurassic World Dominion will present the damage its dinosaurs do to the planet is yet to be seen, but it certainly doesn't look good for Earth in the upcoming sequel.
