WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS for Jurassic Park: Camp Cretaceous season 2, episode 8, "Chaos Theory."
Jurassic Park: Camp Cretaceous season 2 ends with a cliffhanger that left the six teenage campers still stranded on Isla Nublar — but with a mysterious new threat to deal with in season 3. Set between Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Camp Cretaceous season 2 revealed new aspects about the dinosaur-dominated island while delivering thrilling dino action and introducing new human villains, big game hunters Mitch (Bradley Whitford) and Tiff (Stephanie Beatriz), to menace the kids.
Mitch and Tiff posed as friendly eco-tourists promising to rescue the Campers if Darius (Paul-Mikel Williams) would lead them to the Watering Hole that all of the dinosaurs visited. However, Mitch and Tiff turned out to be sociopaths who wanted to kill dinosaurs and hang their heads on their walls, and they also had no problem killing the kids if they didn't cooperate. Meanwhile, the duplicitous couple's guide, Hap (Angus Sampson), revealed who they really were and helped Kenji (Ryan Potter), Brooklynn (Jenna Ortega), and Ben (Sean Giambrone) find their boat at the docks. However, Hap sacrificed his life to help the kids escape a pack of Baryonyx. Kenji and Brooklynn rendezvoused with Yasmina (Kausar Mohammad), and together, they managed to find a control room in the tunnels beneath Jurassic World which let them return power to the park and see and hear Darius and Sammy (Raini Rodriguez), who were hostages of Mitch and Tiff.
Working together, and drawing the T-Rex into the fray, the Campers managed to save the dinosaurs from the big game hunters. Mitch and Tiff met horrible ends: he was caught in one of his own traps and was eaten by the T-Rex as he dangled upside down from a tree, while Tiff left her husband behind and tried to escape on their boat, not realizing two of the Baryonyx followed her aboard. The Jurassic World dinosaurs devoured Tiff as her vessel sailed away from the docks, which, unfortunately, cut off the boat as a possible means for the kids to leave the island. However, the six Campers reunited alive and well. More importantly, they've bonded and come to rely on each other as a cohesive group of friends having protected Jurassic World from the human predators and survived more perils, but they're still stuck on Isla Nublar.
The Campers Still Aren't Rescued But The Emergency Beacon Worked
In Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 2's first episode, "A Beacon of Hope," the kids discovered the park's Main Street had been taken over by the T-Rex, which built a nest, and that the island's emergency beacon was part of her new home. Darius and Kenji risked their lives to enter the nest and they successfully activated the distress signal while the other Campers worked together to lure the T-Rex away.
However, only the audience knows that the beacon did work and that the signal was received by someone on the mainland. The kids didn't find out if their effort succeeded but they believed, at first, that Mitch and Tiff received the signal and came to rescue them. At the end of Camp Cretaceous season 2, the kids still aren't aware the beacon was received, so there is still hope that someone from InGen or Masrani Global - perhaps their prior counselors Roxie (Jameela Jamil) and Dave (Glen Powell) who know the kids were left behind - will come to Isla Nublar in Camp Cretaceous season 3.
The Campers Will Find Their Own Way Off The Island
The Campers were counting on Mitch and Tiff - or at least their boat - to rescue them, but it's now a moot point since their vessel is infested with Baryonyx. Darius declared that they will find their own way off of Isla Nublar, so that likely means they will take a proactive means to rescue themselves. This leaves them a few options, such as trying to locate Jurassic World's control center (which was seen in the 2015 movie) to try to call for help again. Or they could attempt to construct a boat of their own, which may be possible since they successfully rebuilt their treehouse, so they surprisingly have the know-how for major construction projects. There's also no telling what else they could find on Isla Nublar that could help them get rescued.
The fact that the Campers are still stuck on the island nicely sets up Camp Cretaceous season 3, but the question is how much longer can the series last with the kids logically surviving in Jurassic World? There was a time jump of over a month from the time the Campers finished building a new treehouse from the ruins of Camp Cretaceous to the start of episode 3, "The Watering Hole"; during that time, Ben underwent a remarkable transformation into a jungle survivalist, and Bumpy, his pet ankylosaurus, grew from a baby to a full-size dino. There could be another time jump in Camp Cretaceous season 3, but soon, there are events seen in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom that will have to come to fruition.
The Unfrozen Mystery Dinosaur Is Loose
The Campers are also unaware that there's a mystery dinosaur in cryo-freeze beneath the island that is now loose. Brooklyn discovered that there was randomly frozen flora in parts of the island, which pointed to a refrigerated power source underground, but she never discovered the true reason why something was being kept frozen. Whatever this dinosaur is, it could be tied to the secret experiments Dr. Henry Wu (B.D. Wong) was working on in Camp Cretaceous season 1. This means that the unseen dinosaur could be another Indominus Rex or perhaps another hybrid, maybe a predecessor of what became the Indoraptor in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Unfortunately, the dinosaurs found the hidden tunnels and took it over, with the Compsognathus chewing on the power lines and deactivating all of the island's electricity once again. This meant that the dino-in-cryo has been awakened and it will very likely break through the sealed door and menace the teenagers in Camp Cretaceous season 3.
How Camp Cretaceous Season 2 Sets Up Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 2 has a clear setup for the Campers' story to continue in season 3 but the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will also begin in the very near future. In about five months from the end of Camp Cretacous season 2, mercenaries sent by Eli Mills (Rafe Spall) will arrive at the Jurassic World Lagoon to retrieve the DNA of the Indominus Rex so Dr. Wu can breed the Indoraptor. The T-Rex will attack the mercenaries and the Mosasaurus will escape from the island into the open seas while the surviving mercs return to the mainland. It's possible that the six teenagers will have already escaped Isla Nublar before the mercenaries even arrive at the Mosasaurus' lagoon.
Further, Mt. Sibo will begin erupting and will destroy Isla Nublar about a year-and-a-half after the end of Camp Cretaceous season 2. Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) and her Dinosaur Protection Group will arrive on Isla Nublar with Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) to find Blue the Velociraptor and will barely survive the destruction of the island while more of Mills mercenaries kidnap dozens of dinos to auction them off at Lockwood Manor. Camp Cretaceous season 2 actually set up some key moments in Fallen Kingdom: the state of Main Street when Claire and Owen arrive is reflected in what happened during the Campers' exploits against the T-Rex, Mitch, and Tiff, and Fallen Kingdom's human heroes' encounter with a Baryonyx is also foreshadowed: Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous season 2 explains why Owen, Claire, and their friends only faced one Baryonyx: because the other members of her pack were trapped on Mitch and Tiff's boat.
