First footage from Jurassic World: Dominion has been shared by director Colin Trevorrow ahead of an exclusive IMAX preview of the highly anticipated film. The upcoming third film will be the last in the Jurassic World trilogy and it has been a long time coming. Filming on Jurassic World: Dominion began in early 2020, but was subsequently delayed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Filming was resumed that summer before concluding in November 2020, but the movie's release date was still pushed back into 2022.

Picking up four years after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen KingdomDominion will feature the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively. Most notably, though, is the return of characters from the original trilogy. Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum are all reprising their roles from the original Jurassic Park trilogy and they will be featured as major characters. While those who were hoping that a trailer for Jurassic World: Dominion would be coming soon will be left disappointed, there is some good news.

Trevorrow announced that an exclusive preview of Jurassic World: Dominion would be shown in IMAX in front of F9 and while the director has said that it won't be officially released online, he has now shown off a clip of the preview. The 15-second long video shows the feathered dinosaur from earlier images, this time in action, before panning over other pre-historic creatures. Finally, a brief glimpse at two dinosaurs going head-to-head is shown before a cut to black. Check out the clip below:

The footage in the clip is a massive tease, serving to hype up the first official footage from Jurassic World: Dominion. At the end of Fallen Kingdom, the dinosaurs escape the Lockwood Mansion and head out into the world, portending bad things to come. Still, it seems like Trevorrow and co. are holding off from showing footage of dinosaurs in the modern world. The clip above shows off the origin of a new species of dinosaurs set to be introduced in Jurassic World: Dominion, as well as several others that will be introduced, set 65 million years before the events of the new film.

Luckily, this 15-second clip is only brief look at the full, extended IMAX preview. The full Jurassic World: Dominion preview has plenty of other footage, including showing the T-Rex attacking a drive-in movie theater. This act, coupled with the seven new dinosaur species, will likely be vital to the movie, as it will provide new material to study for the return of Drs. Ellie Sattler, Alan Grant, and Ian Malcolm from the original trilogy. How the new dinosaurs will factor into the modern day remains to be seen, but it's clear that, in Jurassic World: Dominion, humans will be up against an even greater threat, one that has been released into the world to wreak havoc.
