Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom star Bryce Dallas Howard has expressed her desire to see more characters from the original Jurassic Park trilogy in Jurassic World 3. As far as popularity goes, the Jurassic franchise has arguably never been more relevant. Both Jurassic World films have grossed over $1 billion each at the worldwide box office which, when not factoring in inflation, makes the movies the highest grossing entries in the entire Jurassic franchise.

In spite of its popularity, cameos of notable characters from the original Jurassic Park movies have been in surprisingly short supply. Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcom made a small appearance both at the beginning and end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, but he never interacted with Howard’s Claire Dearing or Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady. With Jurassic World 3 serving as the third and final film of the trilogy, it seems like the perfect time to change that, according to Howard.

While speaking with CinemaBlend, Howard expressed hopes of going all out for the as-of-yet untitled Jurassic World 3 and bringing in more characters from Jurassic Park and its subsequent sequels to finish out the trilogy. Howard also revealed that this is currently one of the many goals of Jurassic World 3, saying:

“In terms of the third movie, the goal overall is to bring the entire saga together. It'll be the sixth film at the end of the day. For me, what I'm most wanting, other than an undercut, is for there to be more characters from the earlier films.”

Given Howard’s endorsement of the idea combined with the ending of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, where the surviving Isla Nublar dinosaurs are set free in the human world, it definitely seems like the right time story-wise to bring back as many past characters as possible. Jurassic World 3 writer/director Colin Trevorrow (who also helmed the first Jurassic World and co-wrote Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) has also previously expressed his interest in bringing back original Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill and Laura Dern.

Whether or not any previous Jurassic Park cast members actually return, however, remains to be seen and it will more than likely depend on actor availability and, perhaps more importantly, what the story for the film requires. Regardless, in an era of cinema where nostalgia seemingly rules all, it would certainly be a smart (and potentially lucrative) move for Trevorrow and all involved to bring back as many characters from the past as possible and close out the franchise with a bang.
