Universal Pictures debuts a Jurassic World: Dominion trailer showing dinosaurs 65 million years in the past, which serves as a prologue to the film. Plot details for the third installment in the Jurassic Park sequel franchise are currently unknown, but it is set to take place sometime after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom as the cloned dinosaurs were released upon the world, leading mankind to have to learn how to adjust to the new world. Colin Trevorrow returns to the helm for Jurassic World: Dominion on a script he penned with Emily Carmichael from a story he conceived with writing partner Derek Connolly.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return to lead Jurassic World: Dominion's ensemble cast alongside Jurassic Park vets Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and BD Wong, as well as returning stars Daniella Pineda, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith and Omar Sy. The film will also feature the franchise debuts of She's Gotta Have It alum DeWanda Wise, Black Box's Mamoudou Athie, Antlers' Scott Haze, Animal Kingdom's Dichen Lachman and The Amazing Spider-Man's Campbell Scott. Following multiple delays in its production and release schedule due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Jurassic World: Dominion is currently set to hit theaters on June 10, 2022.

On the heels of Trevorrow confirming that the film was officially complete, Universal Pictures has debuted a Jurassic World: Dominion trailer, which was previously released as a special IMAX preview to F9: The Fast Saga's theatrical release. Entitled "The Prologue," the video shifts the focus back to 65 million years in the past and highlights dinosaurs that will be key to the story of the upcoming threequel. The first Jurassic World: Dominion preview marks an interesting look at the long-awaited threequel and change for the Jurassic Park franchise, bringing the focus back to the time in which dinosaurs roamed the Earth before humans. With the upcoming film set to explore a world in which the two species are now living with one another after the Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom ending, The Prologue serves as a proper setup of the differences in the two eras. The video also offers an exciting look at seven new species of dinosaurs never seen in any prior Jurassic Park movies, some of which Trevorrow has confirmed will appear in the new film.

The Jurassic World: Dominion preview also features a few nods to original Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg, namely with the sign to the drive-in movie theater advertising American Graffiti screening, which was co-written and directed by his friend George Lucas. While the video may be comprised of footage not featured in the upcoming threequel, it does offer a nice tease of a return to the dark comedy seen in Trevorrow's original Jurassic World and the chaos to come from dinosaurs and humans co-existing in the world. Only time will tell what the future of the Jurassic Park franchise holds when Jurassic World: Dominion hits theaters on June 10, 2022.
