The official teaser poster for Jurassic World: Dominion, aka. Jurassic World 3, brings back the classic Jurassic Park logo. Much like last year's The Rise of Skywalker brought the larger Skywalker Saga to a close, it appears Dominion is going to act as an ending to both the Jurassic World series and the original Jurassic Park trilogy before it. The movie will even feature Sam Neill and Laura Dern in their iconic roles as scientists Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler for the first time since Jurassic Park III hit theaters in 2001. Jeff Goldblum will also return as Ian Malcolm after briefly reprising his role in 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Directed by Jurassic World helmsman Colin Trevorrow from a script he co-wrote with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising), Dominion will pick up in the aftermath of Fallen Kingdom, with dinosaurs now living freely in the world and humanity doing its best to coexist with them. Trevorrow only just revealed the title for Jurassic World 3 when he started production late last month, posting a photo to his Twitter account of a clapper board with a logo done in the style of those for the Jurassic Park trilogy. That trend continues today, with the unveiling of the film's teaser poster.
With shooting on Jurassic World 3 now firmly underway, Amblin has posted the first official Dominion one-sheet to its website. You can check it out, below.
As many people have already noticed, the logo for Jurassic World: Dominion marks a return to the minimalist details and general aesthetic of the famous Jurassic Park emblem, in addition to its black, red, and yellow color palette. By comparison, the original Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom's logos were done in silver, black, and blue, and were more realistically textured and three-dimensional in their design. The reasoning behind this change seems self-explanatory; Dominion is meant to fully bridge the story gap between the Jurassic World and Jurassic Park trilogies, while at the same time bringing the themes of the original Jurassic Park (namely, who really has control, the humans or dinosaurs) full circle. As such, it makes sense for Jurassic World 3 to include an extra nod to the Steven Spielberg hit that started it all, on top of bringing back its stars.
Of course, Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas will once again serve as the protagonists in Dominion, with Neill, Dern, and Goldblum likely playing supporting roles (albeit, more significant ones than the part the latter had in Fallen Kingdom). Last year's short film Battle at Big Rock - which Trevorrow directed and Carmichael co-wrote - offered an exciting taste of what Jurassic World 3 could have in store for audiences, setting the stage for what may be the best Jurassic World movie yet. Pratt has even gone so far as to liken Dominion to Avengers: Endgame, raising the bar even higher for what audiences can expect from it. We will see if it delivers the goods when it arrives next year.
