A behind-the-scenes look at Jurassic World: Dominion presented at CinemaCon has hinted at the long-anticipated reunion of Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm. The sixth film in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion sees the return of Colin Trevorrow to the director’s chair after directorial duties on 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom were handed off to J. A. Bayona. Steven Spielberg, who kick-started the franchise in 1993, is also acting as an executive producer alongside Trevorrow.

While Ellie Sattler’s Laura Dern, Ian Malcolm's Jeff Goldblum, and Alan Grant’s Sam Neill have all continued to appear at various points throughout the franchise, this film will mark the first time all three have shared the screen together since the original Jurassic Park. Also joining the OG trio is another original cast member, BD Wong, who will be reprising his recurring role of geneticist Dr. Henry Wu. The new Jurassic World trilogy leads, Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, are also set to return their respective roles of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing.

At this year’s CinemaCon taking place in Las Vegas, Universal Studios offered attendees a unique behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming film. In the reel, director Colin Trevorrow says the movie will present the question: If dinosaurs lived amongst us, would you be safe? "The answer is no," Trevorrow says matter-of-factly. Other shots from the reel shown to attendees include scenes of Owen Grady riding a motorcycle in an open field and later being chased by velociraptors across rooftops before jumping onto a motorcycle. Meanwhile, Ellie Sattler, now wearing glasses, sees her character attempting to break out of a crate meant for a dinosaur, and Alan Grant wearing his iconic hat and a costume reminiscent of his Jurassic Park 3 look. One scene also shows all the original legacy characters and the new leads interacting together.

Slated for a 2022 release, as the sixth and final cinematic entry in a beloved franchise which has almost spanned 30 years, Trevorrow says that "Jurassic World: Dominion is a celebration of the franchise. It concludes a story that Stephen Spielberg started in 1993". Picking up four years after the events depicted in Fallen Kingdom, Trevorrow’s new film will introduce fans to a world that was first fearfully spoken of in 1993’s Jurassic Park. One where the genetically resurrected dinosaurs have finally breached all boundaries and fences and have spread unchecked into the world at large.

Exactly how Dominion’s characters battle the threat of a world inhabited by prehistoric predators remains to be seen, but word of this early footage bodes well for an action-packed blockbuster sure to appease fans both new and old alike. Perhaps the original Jurassic Park stars may have some sage advice for their younger counterparts, and there may still be a way for humans to coexist peacefully alongside the now wild dinosaurs. Jurassic World: Dominion is currently slated to hit theaters on June 10th, 2022.
