The first Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom details release ahead of this week's trailer launch. Universal Pictures' upcoming sequel to Colin Trevorrow's record-breaking 2015 film, Jurassic World, continues the story left off with the previous installment and builds upon the studio's beloved Jurassic series. Although Jurassic World was a direct sequel to Steven Spielberg's 1993 film, Jurassic Park, it was mostly a self-contained story arc that laid the groundwork for future sequels, with Fallen Kingdom being next chapter in the new trilogy.

A Monster Calls helmer J.A. Bayona took over directing duties for the Jurassic World sequel, with Trevorrow returning as screenwriter alongside the first film's scribe Derek Connolly. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard both reprise their role as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing, respectively, with B.D. Wong coming back as Dr. Henry Wu and Jeff Goldblum making his first appearance as Dr. Ian Malcolm since Spielberg's 1997 Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Fallen Kingdom wrapped production earlier this year and the studio is now starting to ramp up its marketing campaign for the film by releasing several short trailer teasers as well as the first batch of details regarding the fifth installment in the long-running Jurassic franchise.

EW has the first concrete information regarding Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which takes place several years after the events of Jurassic World and features a refreshing take on the series. In Fallen Kingdom, a volcano is threatening the safety of the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar. And since her days running the dino-theme park, Claire now runs an organization named the Dinosaur Protection Group, and so she seeks to save these dinosaurs by removing them from the island. The details came along with a new image. Take a look:

Jurassic World concluded with the dinosaurs taking over the park, and with Claire and Owen starting a new romantic relationship with each other, but that relationship seems to have fallen by the wayside by the time Fallen Kingdom picks up. However, seeing as Owen was vital in the first film, he returns in the sequel to help Claire and her dino-protection team - consisting of Daniella Pineda and Justice Smith, who both play unnamed characters - save the dinosaurs before the volcano makes them go extinct... again.

These first details paint a better picture as to what's happening in the first trailer teasers, but it also leads to even more questions, such as: Where will the dinosaurs go when they're removed from the island? Isla Sorna, aka Site B, may not be an ideal choice considering what happened in The Lost World and Jurassic Park 3. Hopefully, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's first trailer will shed more light on the upcoming sequel.
