Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom features more dinosaurs than all of the other Jurassic films combined! The sequel, directed by J.A. Bayona, sees Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) team with Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard)'s Dinosaur Protection Group to rescue the dinosaurs of Isla Nublar from the volcanic eruption of the island's Mount Sibo. With such extreme circumstances, it's not surprising that nearly every dinosaur that has appeared throughout the franchise will get some screen time in Jurassic World 2.

Steven Spielberg's 1993 classic Jurassic Park set the bar high for the saga, introducing realistic-looking dinosaurs including perennial fan favorites the T-Rex and Velociraptors. While the rest of the films added more and more dinosaurs, including Jurassic Park III's Spinosaurus, Colin Trevorrow's soft reboot of the franchise, Jurassic World, introduced hybrid dinosaurs into the dangerous island. The deadliest of all was the Indominus Rex, which placed the thousands of guests of the fully-functioning theme park in danger during its rampage and ended up settling all of the animals loose upon the island.

Along with several human characters returning, the sequel boasts 18 species of dinosaurs to thrill and frighten fans, including the debut of a few brand new creatures. Here are all of the dinosaurs to see in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Indoraptor

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's Indoraptor

The newest hybrid dinosaur of the Jurassic franchise, the Indoraptor is a genetic mix of the Indominus Rex and Velociraptors. This terrifying new creature stands a little more than 10 feet tall, which makes it a third the size of Indominus Rex, but that only means it shares the Velociraptors' heightened brain power, problem-solving skills, and their ability to infiltrate human-sized spaces. The Indoraptor was genetically engineered by Dr. Henry Wu (B.D. Wong), who plots to breed improved versions of the beast from the DNA of the Indominus Rex and Blue, Owen Grady's pet Velociraptor.

Mosasaurus

Jurassic World 2 55 Mosasaurus

The gigantic, aquatic Mosasaurus was one of the most popular attractions of Jurassic World when the park was still open. Guests used to be able to gather at the Jurassic World Lagoon and underwater observatory to see the Mosasaurus swim and feed. In Jurassic World, the Mosasaurus memorably ate Zara Young (Katie McGrath), who was captured by a Pteranodon, and in the film's finale, the aquatic dinosaur ate the Indominus Rex while it fought the Tyrannosaurus Rex. In Fallen Kingdom, the Mosasaurus has survived the dinosaur outbreak but is let loose beyond the island to threaten the oceans.

Carnotaurus

Carnotaurus in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

Carnotaurus means "meat-eating bull", and this carnivorous predator sports horns over its eyes and spiked armor. The genetic material of the Carnotaurus was used in the breeding of the Indominus Rex. In Jurassic World 2, Owen, Claire, Franklin Webb (Justice Smith), a Sinoceratops, and the T-Rex all encounter the Carnotaurus, just as the island explodes.

Stygimoloch

The Stygimoloch makes its debut in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Though its name means "demon from the River Styx" because of its head covered by a dome of bony pikes, the Stygimoloch is a peaceful herbivore species. Standing nearly 7 feet tall, the Stygimoloch is nicknamed "Stiggy", and makes a rather impactful debut in Fallen Kingdom.

Baryonyx

Though its existence has been referenced in the prior Jurassic films, the Baryonex finally makes its debut in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. This fearsome carnivore's name means "heavy claw" and it has crocodile-like armor running along its back from neck to tail. In Jurassic World 2, Claire, and Franklin encounter a Baryonex as they try to save the dinosaurs from the Isla Nublar volcano; another is later seen airlifted off the island.

Allosaurus

The Allosaurus was first seen in a hologram inside the Innovation Center of Jurassic World, and the creature itself makes its in-the-flesh debut in Fallen Kingdom. Though the Allosaurus has similarities to the T-Rex, it is smaller (about 14 feet tall), and they are thought to hunt in packs, similar to Velociraptors. In the trailers for Jurassic World 2, the Allosaurus can be seen running alongside and trying to attack Claire and Franklin while they flee the stampeding dinosaurs in a Gyrosphere as the volcano erupts.

Apatosaurus

Not to be confused with the (larger) Brachiosaurus, the Apatosaurus are also gigantic herbivores that were bred to be some of the gentle giants of the Jurassic World theme park that guests could even pet in the Petting Zoo. In the prior film, the Indominus Rex killed many Apatosaurus during its rampage. In Fallen Kingdom, the Apatosaurus are among the dinosaurs threatened by the erupting volcano on Isla Nublar.

Sinoceratops

The Sinoceratops name means "Chinese Horn Face", an acknowledgment of how this species lived in China during the late Cretaceous period. Seen for the first time in Jurassic World 2, this massive herbivore is similar to the Triceratops except for the two holes in its horned skull bone. Like all of the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar, the Sinoceratops is threatened by the volcano erupting.

Velociraptor in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

Velociraptor

The fan-favorites Velociraptors were the villains of the first three Jurassic Park movies. However, Jurassic World re-introduced the raptors as allies of Owen Grady, who trained a pack of four led by Blue. After their battle with the Indominus Rex, Blue was the lone survivor and was left behind when the humans escaped Isla Nublar. Saving Blue from the island's volcanic apocalypse is one of the reasons Owen chooses to join Claire and the Dinosaur Protection Group's mission to return to Isla Nublar, but Blue's DNA is also prized by Dr. Henry Wu in order to breed newer and more dangerous Indoraptors.

Brachiosaurus

Apatosaurus in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

The beloved Brachiosaurus was the first dinosaur fans saw in Jurassic Park and was later named "veggiesaurus" by Tim Murphy to calm his sister Lex when they encountered one with Dr. Alan Grant. The Brachiosaurus was seen as a hologram and its distinctive cry was heard in Jurassic World, but they return in all of their majesty in Fallen Kingdom.

Triceratops

Triceratops in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

The Triceratops has appeared in every Jurassic film; Dr. Alan Grant famously leaned on a sick one to gauge its breathing in Jurassic Park while Dr. Ian Malcolm noted that it left behind "one big pile of sh*t". The popular triple-horned herbivore returns again in Jurassic World 2 as part of the dinosaur stampede fleeing the volcanic eruption on Isla Nublar.

Ankylosaurus

Ankylosaurus in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

Built like a living tank, the Ankylosaurus is a heavily armored herbivore with a tail it can swing like a club. The Ankylosaurus made its first appearance in Jurassic Park III, then in Jurassic World, Claire's two nephews saw the Indominus Rex attack a herd of Ankylosaurus when they left their Gyrosphere. The Ankylosaurus will be seen fleeing the Isla Nublar volcano in Fallen Kingdom and later turns up at a nefarious dinosaur auction.

Stegosaurus

Stegosaurus in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

The Stegosaurus is one of the most well-known of all dinosaurs, thanks to the armored plates all along its back and spiked tail. First seen in The Lost World: Jurassic Park, the Stegosaurus has appeared in every Jurassic film since. In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom at least one of the herbivores survives Isla Nublar and is transported to the mainland in a cage.

Parasaurolophus

Parasaurolophus (sitting above left) are herbivores known for the ridged crests on their heads and have appeared in every single Jurassic film. Fans first saw a herd of them drinking from the lake as Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, and Ellie Sattler first set eyes on the Brachiosaurus after arriving on Isla Nublar in Jurassic Park. The Parasaurolophus is part of the dinosaur stampede in Jurassic World 2.

Compsognathus

Compsognathus Jurassic Park

Compsognathus, also called "compys", are among the smallest dinosaurs bred for the Jurassic theme parks. The compys made their first appearance in The Lost World when one attacked a young girl (Camilla Belle) at the start of the film and they last appeared in Jurassic Park III. However, these dangerous foot-tall carnivores were actually the first dinosaurs to appear in Michael Crichton's original novel, so it only makes sense for them to return in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. They appear throughout the film after being successfully rescued from the island.

Gallimimus

Gallimimus in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom

Appearing in every film except Jurassic Park III, Gallimimus were first seen when a herd stampeded past Dr. Grant, Lex, and Tim in the original Jurassic Park. Gallimimus are omnivores with a running speed of about 60 MPH. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom recreates that scene in the inaugural film when the Gallimimus are part of the dinosaur stampede fleeing from the erupting volcano.

Pteranodon

Though Pteranodon were featured in Michael Crichton's novel, the winged reptiles didn't debut until The Lost World, where it was revealed they were kept in the Isla Sorna Aviary. They had a memorable sequence in Jurassic Park III, but the destruction caused by Indominus Rex in Jurassic World let the entire flock of Pteranodon loose upon the park and its guests. They have dominated the skies above Isla Nublar ever since, and have a pivotal role to play this time around.

Tyrannosaurus Rex

Arguably the most beloved dinosaur of all, the Tyrannosaurus Rex (or simply "T-Rex") is the franchise's signature beast. Tyrannosaurus Rex has appeared in every Jurassic film. The Lost World saw a T-Rex transported from Isla Sorna and rampage through San Diego in 1997 and a different T-Rex was killed by the Spinosaurus in Jurassic Park III. However the T-Rex from the first film has not only survived on Isla Nublar for the last 25 years, but she is the same T-Rex that appeared in Jurassic World and now in Fallen Kingdom.
