A new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom contest has been announced, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Jurassic ParkFallen Kingdom hits theaters this summer, reuniting Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) as they return to Isla Nublar to try and save the dinosaurs who have taken over after the events of Jurassic World. The sequel promises plenty of action - as the volcanic island erupts and the humans have to save the giant animals from destruction - as well as a little romance (obviously) and some political discourse on whether or not the dinosaurs should be saved.

Despite a reasonable premise (as much as any movie about genetically engineered dinosaurs can be considered reasonable, that is), the trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is considered a dud by many. Fans are still hoping that the movie will be better than the trailer, of course, but it remains to be seen whether Fallen Kingdom is an improvement on the first Jurassic World, let alone the original Jurassic Park... which is 25 years old this year! In honor of the anniversary, fans have been invited to take part in a contest celebrating both Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic Park.

Details of the contest were posted to the Jurassic World YouTube channel, in a video hosted by Pratt and Howard. The two Jurassic World stars talk about the film that started it all, 25 years ago, and invite fans of the franchise to submit their own re-creations of their favorite scenes from Jurassic Park. Whether it is the raptors in the kitchen, the T-Rex's first appearance, or the hatching of a dinosaur before everything goes horribly wrong, examples of fan recreations are shown, before viewers are directed to the website (https://www.jurassicworld.com/jp25/) for more information.

The grand prize of the contest is $1000 and a 'Jurassic Park Prize Package', although the details of the prize package are not given. Given that the site also promotes the anniversary special edition DVD/Blu-ray of Jurassic Park, it's likely that copies will be some of the prizes, and Jurassic World tickets and merchandise are also likely to be included - although we won't know for sure until more details are released. The contest is open worldwide, although there are some restrictions (such as Cuba and Quebec), and entrants must be at least 13 years old.

While cynical fans will call this just a little extra promotion for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (which it is, to an extent), this is also a great way for amateur filmmakers and fans of the franchise to have a little fun and potentially get their name out there with the Jurassic Park name attached. It's also an excuse to re-watch the original, and still incredible, Jurassic Park - not that we need one!
