Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom may be all about the dinosaurs, but what makes the film so scary is it's massive cast of characters ripe for the eating.

The second installment of the Jurassic World franchise (fifth Jurassic movie overall), Fallen Kingdom takes us back (briefly) to Isla Nublar, where the dinosaurs are now roaming free. With the island's volcano now erupting, the dinosaurs are under threat and it's down to our heroes to save them. Of course, they can't go it alone, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom introduces some new faces too.

Jurassic World 2 has a stacked cast, some of them in surprisingly minor roles. Here's a rundown of who's who in the latest dino rampage.

Returning Jurassic World (And Park) Characters

Chris Pratt as Owen Grady - Navy veteran and dinosaur trainer Owen returns from Jurassic World. He's no longer working with animals of any description, and his life is a lot more sedate. However, dinosaurs still have his heart, and in particular the Raptor, Blue, who he raised from birth. In Fallen Kingdom, Owen is calmer, wiser, and more mature than he was in the first movie.

Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing - The former Head of Operations of Jurassic World on Isla Nublar, Claire is now back in the U.S. working as a Dinosaur Rights Activist. She is desperate to protect the dinosaurs from extinction for a second time, no matter the cost. Like Owen, she is wiser and more pragmatic, but arguably more impassioned about dinosaurs than ever before.

Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm - Reprising his role from the Jurassic Park movies, Goldblum's role in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is little more than a cameo, but what he does say is important. It seems that as an expert in chaos theory, Dr. Malcolm is just as in demand as he ever was.

B.D. Wong as Dr. Henry Wu - Dr. Wu served as the head geneticist for Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, but he's become so obsessed with genetically-engineering dinosaurs that he's basically a villain. There's a limit to how much science should be allowed to mix with nature, and in the creation of the new Indoraptor, Wu has overstepped the mark.

New Jurassic World Heroes

Justice Smith as Franklin Webb - A former IT technician who now works for Claire at the Dinosaur Protection group, Franklin serves as her system hacker and data analyst. While undoubtedly passionate about dinosaurs, Franklin is better behind a screen than coming face to face with the giant creatures.

Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez - Zia is a former Marine, and now working alongside Franklin for the Dinosaur Protection Group. Despite being a Paleoveterinarian, Zia has never seen a dinosaur in real life. She is exceptionally knowledgeable, tough, and fearless.

James Cromwell as Sir Benjamin Lockwood - The former partner of John Hammond, the pair worked together on developing the technology needed to clone the dinosaurs, parting ways before Jurassic Park opened. With the creatures now under threat from the volcano on Isla Nublar, Lockwood calls upon Claire to help evacuate the creatures to safety.

Isabella Sermon as Maisie Lockwood - Benjamin Lockwood's granddaughter, Maisie is very close to the elderly man, and curious to know more about his work. She is smart and quick-thinking, but there's more to her heritage than meets the eye.

New Jurassic World Bad Guys

mills

Rafe Spall as Eli Mills - Working as Benjamin Lockwood's right-hand man, Mills oversees the dinosaur rescue operation for the old man, who's becoming ever more frail. Mills is ambitious, ruthless, and driven. While Claire, Owen and Benjamin care for the dinosaur's welfare, Mills only sees money to be made. He'll stop at nothing to ensure the creatures are sold for maximum profit.

Toby Jones as Gunnar Eversol - Eversol is only driven by money. He's an auctioneer interested in selling dinosaurs as war machines to wealthy world leaders, with no care for the creatures or any interest in their welfare.

Ted Levine as Ken Wheatley - In charge of the evacuation process from Isla Nublar. Wheatley certainly has an interest in the animals in his care, but only as far as how much money they can make him and no respect for their magnificence.
