Jurassic World 3 may be adding another familiar face: original Jurassic Park actor Joe Mazzello. Mazzello played Tim Murphy, the younger brother of Lex and grandson of John Hammond. Due to their parents' divorce, the two come to Jurassic Park and spend a lot of time with Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill), who saves their lives many times. Lex and Tim also appear in The Lost World: Jurassic Park, but only at the beginning of the film. Like most characters from the first movie, neither have been seen in any of the Jurassic World films.
Instead, the Jurassic World movies mostly focus on a new group of heroes, with Chris Pratt's Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard's Claire Dearing leading the fight. They've worked together to both protect the dinosaurs of Jurassic World and survive them over the course of the two films they've been in so far. Though both used to work for Jurassic World, Claire now fights for dinosaur rights. Pratt and Howard will return for Jurassic World 3, the final film in the trilogy. It will also serve as the ending of the entire Jurassic Park franchise, at least for the time being.
To celebrate the end, many actors from the first film will be back, including Neill, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm. However, Pratt recently said that "they're bringing everybody back" and called it a secret he had to keep. This led some to assume that more returns are on the way but haven't been announced. Now, Mazzello is fueling that fire with a cryptic comment made today on Twitter. Mazzello said, "I think it's time to get back to work. What do you say gang?" Check out the tweet below:
Mazzello was ten when Jurassic Park was released and successfully made the transition from child to adult actor. He's worked steadily throughout his life, even appearing in the Oscar-winning movies The Social Network and Bohemian Rhapsody. Mazzello is also a director and screenwriter, though he's known primarily for his acting roles. Because he is still acting, a return from him is more likely than someone who had switched to a different career. However, while he may end up returning for Jurassic World 3, it's important to note that no official announcement has been made yet.
Thanks to Pratt's comments, many fans have been speculating that someone like Mazzello could be coming back. If he does, it seems likely that Ariana Richards could also return as Lex. Even if the two only show up for a brief cameo, it would be fun for fans to see where their characters are today, considering how long it's been since they appeared in the world of Jurassic Park. It would also help provide a fitting end to a beloved franchise, which is what everyone hopes will happen in Jurassic World 3.
