Fans of the Jurassic Park series will soon be able to visit the park themselves in a new Half-Life 2 mod called Jurassic Life. The game is now completely playable from start to finish, but the team behind it wants to put a little more polish on it before release. They did however release a gameplay trailer that can be viewed below.

There have been many attempts at Jurassic Park games over the years to varying degrees of success. One of the most recent attempts was Jurassic Park: Evolution which received mixed reviews from critics. Evolution let players build own version of Jurassic Park and manage dinosaurs however they wished. There has also been attempts over the years to add Jurassic Park into other games. The developers of Rocket League decided to tie-in with Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom by adding in new cars based on jeeps from the films. Fans have also gotten in on the fun as well, like a Farcry 5 player who created Isla Nublar from the original film by using the game's map editor.

According to PC Gamer, Jurassic Life is going to be ready for release very soon. The mod's story campaign can finally be played from the opening cutscene all the way until the final credits. Jurassic Life will use Half-Life 2's engine but will feature new characters and cinematics. Players will be tasked with playing as Robert Muldoon the game warden killed by velociraptors in the original film. Muldoon will be navigating his way around the park while attempting to contain a massive dinosaur outbreak on the island.

The team behind Jurassic Life is urging everyone not to get excited yet. They still have a lot of work and polishing to do before they think about releasing it to the public. The team is still currently looking for volunteers who can do some C++ coding and character modeling work. Hopefully the full game will launch sometime later this year.

Fans of Jurassic Park have clamored for years for a video game that would allow them to explore the park and kill dinosaurs. That game may never actually come, but Jurassic Life might very well be a suitable replacement. With the recent disappointments of the newer Jurassic Park films it will also be refreshing to be able to return to Isla Nublar for the first time in years. Here's hoping that Jurassic Life can live up to the hype.
