The upcoming line of Jurassic Park Funko Pop! figures will include a shirtless Dr. Ian Malcolm variant. Despite earlier reports concerning the Jurassic Park Funko Pop! figures that joked about how such a figure seemed unlikely, fans of the snarky scientist will soon be able to take him home with them in the form of a tasteful plastic figure.

Brought to life by actor Jeff Goldblum in the original 1993 movie, the character of Dr. Ian Malcolm has developed a near cult-like group of followers independent of the already devout Jurassic Park fandom. While his impending death was heavily implied at the end of the original Jurassic Park book by Michael Crichton, Dr. Malcolm would not only return in the sequel novel The Lost World - he was the main character. Many believe this was because of Goldbum's masterful performance, which cemented his status as a both a geek actor icon and something of a sex symbol among a certain class of fan.

The variant figure was confirmed by Funko, which revealed the final photos of most of the upcoming line of figures. The shirtless variant of Dr. Malcolm, which will be released in a special over-sized box due to the figure's reclined pose, will be exclusively available at Target.

Funko also confirmed a previously unannounced two-pack of the sinister Dennis Nedry and a dilophosaurus with raised frill, which will be exclusive to Entertainment Earth. The dilophosaurus without the frill will be a rare 1:6 chase figure. It was also confirmed that the Dr. Ellie Sattler with Jurassic Park jeep figures (part of Funko's Pop! Rides line) will be released in February 2018, although pictures of the finished figures were still unavailable.

It remains unclear if the shirtless Dr. Ian Malcolm variant figure had always been planned to be a secret part of the Jurassic Park Funko Pop! line or if it was hurriedly added at the last minute due to fan demand. In either case, Goldblum fans are sure to greet the announcement with great enthusiasm.

It remains to be seen, however, if any further figures based upon other characters and dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park franchise are forthcoming. But, it seems likely that fans of Jurassic World can expect to have a miniature Owen and his raptors to decorate their desks at some future date. There will probably also be figures based upon the upcoming fifth Jurassic Park film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
