Although it was never one of those blockbuster sequels for which people were literally counting the days until release, I figured audiences would nonetheless still flock to see Jurassic Park 4.
That is once Universal Pictures got around to making it.
While recently doing press for their upcoming release The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the husband-wife producing team of Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy revealed the project (which has been in development hell for years - going through multiple screenwriters in the process) is dead.
As Kennedy explained:
"No... I don't know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."
I can't really argue with that logic.
Then again, I also can't help but think when Universal finds themselves without a tentpole, they might turn to Jurassic Park 4 to fill in the void.
Time will ultimately tell, ladies and germs.
