DC Comics has taken its superheroes and supervillains to prehistoric times in the new series Jurassic League, with Wonder Woman and the Justice League acquiring all-new dinosaur forms. The cover art for Jurassic League #3 emphasizes just how terrifying DC's villains are also going to be within this series. Giganta, one of Wonder Woman's classic foes, is one of a few villains who has become more fearsome than ever.

Introduced in 1944, Giganta is one of Wonder Woman's oldest foes, and the giant woman has undergone numerous alterations to her backstory. Originally she was a gorilla turned human, and later a scientist who transferred her consciousness to a metahuman woman. Giganta has starred in recent Wonder Woman comics, but her latest iteration may just be her best, playing strongly upon her massive size and making her far more fearsome than she's ever been before. She's rarely considered a big league villain by DC fans, especially compared to Lex Luthor or the Joker, but she might finally be getting her due.

Jurassic League #3 has the creative team of Daniel Warren Johnson and Juan Gedeon. The previous two issues also included the work of colorist Mike Spicer and letterer Ferran Delgado. In new cover art for the third issue, Wonderdon - the Jurassic League's Wonder Woman - is seen facing off directly against Giganta in her new dinosaur form, which channels some of the biggest prehistoric carnivores. Her size has never been more fitting than it is here.

Forget Gigantosaurus, because Giganta is taking the name for herself and Gigantasaurus puts the species to shame. She debuted briefly at the end of Jurassic League #1, though she seems like she will be playing a more predominant role as this six-issue series continues. In the first issue, she was seen full-size, keeping her traditional black and yellow coloration, with her skin matching her usual suit scheme. She was paired with Brontozarro, Bizarro's prehistoric form, mirroring Supersaur - Superman's prehistoric alter. Also debuting that issue were Jokerzard and Blackmantasaurus, setting the stage for some major villainous throwdowns to come.

Of these four villains, Giganta is definitely the most underrated. Compared to the other members of the Justice League, Wonder Woman's villains are not given much credit. This should definitely be changing with this series since Giganta has some pretty major advantages. She towers over everyone else around and has one of the fiercest designs, alongside Joker's newest variant. Her predominant power is changing size, though she's also proven to be highly intelligent. Considering the world she is in, her size may finally fully work in her favor. In a world of superheroes, she doesn't have the broadest set of powers. However, in a world of dinosaurs, the Jurassic League could be meeting its match. Giganta could have an upper hand here and it's nice to finally see her appear in a form that is truly threatening and less easy to cast aside as a minor villain than normal. Wonder Woman's classic villain has finally achieved her best form ever and it'll be great to see Giganta in action when Jurassic League #3 releases on July 12th.
