Mark Millar's critically acclaimed series returns in Jupiter's Legacy: Requiem, which will explore plot points that the Netflix adaptation of the series will be picking up. The Image Comics miniseries continues the story of Jupiter's Legacy, which began back in 2012, spans four volumes, and ties into the upcoming television interpretation. The sequel miniseries will premiere in comic book stores after the Netflix show starts streaming.

Jupiter's Legacy has been a highly anticipated Netflix show releasing in 2021. It's based on Millar's comic book series Jupiter's Legacy, which is illustrated by Frank Quitely with colors and letters from Peter Doherty. The story involves the superhero group known as the Union, who gained their superpowers back in 1932. Specifically, the series focuses on the superpowered children of the Union and the conflicts they endure while living up to their family's legacy. There was also a prequel miniseries that spanned a couple of volumes called Jupiter's Circle, which further delved into the lives of the six founding members of the Union superhero group back in the 1950s and 1960s.

Announced on the official Image Comics website, Jupiter’s Legacy: Requiem will release its first issue on June 16, 2021. The series follows the marriage of Chloe and Hutch as well as their children. Despite the peace between heroes and humanity, the family will be torn asunder and the mysterious island teased to be in the Netflix series will be revealed in more detail. The miniseries will come out a month after the Netflix show, which the trailer established would premiere on May 7, 2021.

Millar's plan for Jupiter's Legacy was “to write the biggest superhero story of all time," and he teased a bit about what the new volume will mean for the series as a whole:

It starts in the '20s and runs through to the present day, but the next volume (book five in the series) moves everything forward one generation as Chloe and Hutch settle down and get married and have a family of their own. The world’s been fixed, the superheroes now working in tandem with the human race to create this perfect society, but people are still people and it doesn’t take long for the family feud to move forward one generation.

Hopefully, the miniseries and the Netflix adaptation will be an enjoyable experience and set the tone for the future of Millarworld because it has already been announced that altogether Netflix has three movies, two series, and one comic book in the works related to Millarworld.

This first Millarworld Netflix series has the daunting task of setting the tone for the entire universe to come. It stars Josh Duhamel as The Utopian, whose look has been revealed in set photos. He serves as the series' Superman analog, which is just one of the many critical aspects being commented on within the series. The Jupiter's Legacy series touches on many important topics, including the end of capitalism as well as plenty of other concepts not typically associated with the superhero subgenre but worth exploring in both the real world and the fictional one. Enjoy Millar's superheroics in Jupiter’s Legacy: Requiem this June and get a sneak peek of the mini-series by watching the Netflix show in May.  Will this mark the beginning of a beautiful era of Millarworld properties?
